Builde.exe hangs a some point and then W7 (64) ask me to close the program. So i click and then the Builder.exe window keep going until the final lines in the report.


The line that is strange is :

Should be "ora_sol_001.material" or a complete name
  • Fresh install (new PC).
  • The source and output directories are perfectly synchronized (except of course the names. Ex : "mapsrc" becomes "map" and so on.)
  • I see the textures in the editor flawlessly (before running builder.exe).
  • If i launch the editor again the textures aren't there (same messages in console - see below)
  • If i close launchpad + editor + builder (the file/exit menu) then open launchpad and the editor again; and finally reload the map : It works fine.

    I've known about this for a very long time now, but it probably won't get fixed for a while either. Just put the mods files into the ns2 directory until it's fixed

    Actually the issue is not the Builder.exe but the Overview.exe that gets started by Builder.exe.

    This happens currently if you try to use the Overview.exe with a map that contains props that are not inside the install folder.

    I would suggest to wait 2-3 days for the new build and then use the fixed Overview.exe which should not crash anymore but a samus mentioned still ignores files outside the install folder.

    If it still crashes please provide us with your source files, so we can reproduce the crash issue and fix it for 276.

    Yup, what @GhoulofGSG9 said. Some changes have been made to Overview.exe that make it a little bit more stable. However, we're aware that it needs quite a bit more work before it's rock solid.

    Yes i know it's not the builder but i use as much as possible the environment provided (launchpad + builder). It's more or less better concerning methodology. Also it was to point out it was not called with a command line.

    What are the possible interactions / problems if i copy the textures and materials in the NS2 install directory ?
    (local/distant mod conflict etc.)

    Nothing as long as you don't overwrite vanilla files.
