Fooling Aliens

Just a quick one..
When about to go for that Hive or some other strategic location, try giving one specific trooper the job to sneak his way into alien territory to get a few shots in at a hive (if possible) or a res node. Hide and repeat. 2 - 3 skulks will usually be of chasing him while your squad set up camp.

This might be obvious rather than clever, but you never know

Good strat, equivalent of the single skulk harassing the CC at the marine base.

Yup, I usually do this, I say "Commander, I'm gonna go do a little attack on their hive to get their attention and buy some time", doesnt always work, but hey its always worth a try. Another good idea is to get 1 marine and shoot the hive once or twice every 30 secs, then just defend his position rather than empty his clip into the hive.

everytime my team is trying to siege/secure a hive without beeing noticed I fire a few shots in the hive hoping the alien team will just freak out and F4

Yeah, this is a pretty common diversion tactic. I think someone coined it as "The Disco Inferno/Ninja Siege." One team (or single guy) makes as much noise and distraction as possible, while the "ninja" squad runs past everything (not attacking at all) to set up camp.

I just like the name. It's effective too.

The trick is to get someone (anyone) on their team screaming 'THEY'RE HITTING COMP CORE HIVE GO GO GO' This is achivable by:

    1) Shooting the hive then doing a runner/hiding very well.
    2) Shooting offence chambers very close to a siege location then doing a runner/hiding.

Nothing else is going to work unless your confident of your ability to kill a good 2-3 skulks one at a time because if you just shoot the hive and then try covering yourself you'll have one skulk come in, kill you run around and say to everybody else 'ok guys looks like it was a newbish rambo'.

    The key, is inducing... panic.

scanner sweeps are also useful for misdirection... ping A and go straight to B (or C)

This is a good strategy to use, however another good one is to use your parasited marines as bait. If you become parasited, do not go with the normal squad but alone so the aliens will be attracted to you. You do not want to reveal to the aliens your team rush do you? Probably not.

yer i normally go Rambo when i get a parasite and it usually attracts a few skulks. If u r good at shooting u will keep them busy for a while. [hopefully they come back to get u] just buying my troops more time hopefully.

I think that was me, way back when. 'Course, since I know that marines can do that, I usually check around the hive for signs of marine activity. If they're there, I do my best to kill 'em, and shout over voicecomm for backup.

When they figure out you're sealing a hive, if you can spare a troop or two, its good idea to run for the second (hopefully) empty hive right away. Aliens are usually to busy to notice you then when franticly attacking the invaders of the first hive.

I was thinking how easy this would be to do in the compcore hive on ns_eclipse. there are the two areas with the green lighted thin thing that you can hide behind... (i hope that makes sense)

Hehe... my fav spot... even more sinister if you have a jetpack. If you look up when behind that semitransparent wall ther is a little ledge that i thing you can stand on. Never got a chance to try it though.

Whenever I get parasited, I always go seperate from the main group. I've had the Comm shout at me for not obeying waypoints, and then I tell him I've got a parasite.

The great thing about having a parasite, is that the aliens come to you. Its a great distraction, and takes the pressure away from the main group of marines.

Infact, I love parasite so much now, I often hope to get parasited at the beginning of the game. There was one game where I lasted about half an hour with a parasite.
