Renewable Salt Suggestion

One of the most time consuming things I'm finding myself doing in Subnautica is trying to find enough salt to keep a healthy diet. It seems a little too sparse when you need it to cook food several times per in game day. I'm aware that there is quite a bit around the wreck of the Aurora, but once that's gone its back to searching 5-10 minutes for a single piece.

I'm assuming that as there are salt deposits in game, that the ocean is in fact saltwater. My suggestion would to be implement some sort of machine; either one you can build or one that comes within the Cyclops, that filters saltwater in and slowly boils/evaporates the water. Leaving a nice little chunk of salt as the end result.

Obviously a large amount of water would have to be evaporated to produce the amount of salt required to cook the fish, so if it were something along the lines of 20-30 minutes of the machine running to produce a single piece of salt. I feel that wouldn't be overpowered.

As it currently stands, I'm finding it too tedious to search for additional salt, when there's an entire oceans worth of renewable salt around me at all times. I'm currently just using Airsacks for H2O, and uncooked spadefish for the hunger bar.

I completely agree with this, at least the basic principle. The first issue with game play that came to my mind was that it is going to be a chore late game to find salt. I would be perfectly happy as well to have to create some absurdly expensive device that creates salt at a very slow rate. I was personally thinking that the device could create salt or filtered water (assuming that it is salt water), but I mainly just want something that can make salt so I don't have to constantly find more.

On a slightly different note, I would like to see more variety in food, but my guess is that is more of a late development thing.

Eat mushrooms, Sea Grass and Spade Fish, they don't need salt. Or eat fish raw and drink filtered water.
