    ya know, reading about a menu refresh I shall repeat myself once more.

    Please do NOT make a new menu which doesnt use like, most of the screen. having a menu (like on combat standalone) on the top is a huge impractical waste of space.
    Its a menu, not a 'ooooh shiny picture' area.
    For a work area, sure.. But its a menu man... a menu.

    the new menu is mainly because of some other changes behind the scenes that will require rebuilding it, but I believe the concepts are on trello as well.

    what about match making ? im new to NS2 but there is few and less player dont want to wait in one empty server to find people play for 1 hour =='

    so yes, this is on our list of wants, however there is work that needs to be done to HIVE (our backend stats collector) first before we can invest the time making the match maker work. We haven't given up hope yet on this topic.

    just an system connect people with ~150ms ping together and join in one server>> Rank match can be work later on like CSGO Competitive Lobby

    A more lightweight version of matchmaking is server ranking which is something I've put a little work into. The idea is that rather than just filtering nonempty nonfull and sorting by ping, you can rank the servers by default by something that takes all factors into account, including the relative skills.

    There was a gather system awhile back in game that worked similar to that. It was never used though so I think it got removed.

    im mean a lobby like CSGO when player can creat "lobby" to chat and click REady >> when everyone in that lobby ready >> host player click start and system will test + find <250ms server and connect all people there ?

    Talking in English >> take Counter Strike Online for example , they have lobby system andi have try Eng version (CSO Singapore/Malaysia)

    @moultano any thoughts on a 'current server population' FET? What I mean is, Give the option of using the last round's score (or K/D or what ever metric) to shuffle instead of a global skill score. So it is an instance of Forced Even shuffle based on the last game (obviously this can't work for people that left and new people just joined), but those without a last game score can be randomly assigned for simplicity sake. I see many problems such as people joining late etc... But this will alleviate the problem of players who don't play often but are good etc... And if people know about this, and hang around for more than one game, they will hopefully get a "balanced" team game going more often and have fun.

    In the mean time, Matso, fsfod and a few of the programmers have been converting NS2 to compile on Visual Studio 2013, rather than the current Visual Studio 2005 NS2 currently compiles on.

    That's how the old system worked, and it didn't work very well. A better solution to the problem of player who are good but don't play often is to have a higher update rate for new players, or to increase the update rate as a function of the time between games.

    Appreciate your work guys - do you guys think you could tweak the early game balance for the aliens? According to NS2stats, marines currently win 63% of all early games (i.e. games < 10 mins) and it's getting a bit tiresome, to be honest.

    The strategy is simple: marines sprint to the alien natural harvesters, kill the cysts, then proceed to camp. Aliens get starved for res and upgrades are reduced to a crawl. Meanwhile the marines cap all of the res and get SGs, PGs, weapons, armor upgrades. Aliens f4 and leave the server. Server dies.
