Is it posible to upgrade your steam version of subnautica to the special edition one? or do i need to buy the special ediiton again instead in order to get the hulls plate in my steam inventory?

Kind regards, Semitron!

Sadly there is no upgrade available via steam. The only option is to buy the special edition from here: http://subnauticagame.com/ which will provide a code to add it. The special edition plaque will not be coming to steam for sale due to some limitations of how steam works and sells stuff.

So, if i buy the special edition and type the code, and Steam name, i will be able to get the hull plates even tho i still already got the game on steam?

Wouldn't it be possible to simply sell the hull plate upgrade separately on your website for a lesser amount than full game + hull plate?

This way those of us who already own a steam copy can still get the hull plate without having to pay full price for the game all over again?

But doesn't that take away the point of the special addition? ;)

I think the point of it is a limited (8000ish) number of special hull plates, and that's it for it right? (it's barely woth an extra $10 for an upgrade, but I really don't see it special enough to justify buying the game all over again.

(many of us had no idea it was for sale via the website, not to mention lots of gamers prefer steam simply for the ease of updates and such.)

If there will be special edition on steam in the future then will I be able to upgrade to it? I already own the normal version. Maybe it could come as a DLC? Then you could also make the bundle of subnautica + this DLC and call it special edition? Please respond.
