Error loading SNUnmanagedData\Build18

When trying to start an existing game the loading screen is not closed and shows the message "Error loading SNUnmanagedData\Build18" with a running seconds counter. Nothing special done before saving: created new Game, some basic gathering (quartz, copper and that like), and some simple crafting like glass, silicone, tank and knife.
Pressing ESC shows the expected menu and I am able to quit normally.

Experimental branch, builds 14272, 14274 and 14275.

This happens to me too, and apparently is caused by a corrupted save file. I'm sure the developers are already working on it, but it's still frustrating having to start all over again everytime. I am actually surprised that not more people are complaining about this bug because it makes the game pretty much unplayable.

It just makes the game 'nintendo hard' really. It's on the priority list to be fixed, and it's 'super early access', so there's more forgiveness. The really short frame of the current game content (~2 hours) makes the saving issue a little less 'bad' as well. The 100% crash rate and broken features in experimental are what make it 'unplayable' at the moment. All we can do right now is be a little patient and hope fixes are found sooner rather than later.

I've put The Forest out on its ass for being in this state in the past, but UWE has a better track record for developing good games and is keeping the EA player base in the loop about what's going on. There's enough good credit there to give them the benefit of the doubt while they work through this rough patch.

I have not intended to complain, it was just to report since I had not found it reported before.
Sure it is kind of frustrating, but since it is on the experimental branch only, it is OK (IMO). The normal branch is working good - exceptionally good for Early Access! The developers are doing great advances, and it is pretty nice to have access to that advances - not many early access games do have updates published so often...

SteveRock stated that the "too many heaps" crash has been fixed, but this bug apparently still exists. I was able to save and load a new game just fine, but after I built a cyclops (yay) I saved again and was unable to load the save after that. It was the same Build18 issue. What's funny about this is that you can press F6 and see the world, you just cannot move or interact with anything and the fish don't move. It seems like all the data was loaded correctly, just the game logic didn't start for some reason.
Off topic: Collecting the resources for a cyclops is very hard now! My biggest problem was finding the lithium, gold and silver because I didn't know where to look. There should be a hint of some sort on where to find these materials.

hmm we are still looking into the memory/too many heaps crashes - it's basically just running out of mem, so we need to either 1) find unnecessary memory use, or 2) use less memory. we are actively pursuing both right now.

That's going to be a problem going forward. The Unity engine sounds remarkably easy to use from a programming standpoint based on how many developers are using it, but it's come to where the ten-years outdated memory limitation is going to cause as many problems as it saves. Dreams are big, the code is easy, but the pants have gotten really small.

tl;dr; That it's gonna be a while on heap stack errors doesn't come as surprising. I've heard rumors about a new Unity version (5?), but I'm not going to hold my breath for a SN code renovation.

The promises in Unity 5 supporting 64 bit are very vague, and perhaps a bit misleading. While Linux 64 bit support is official, Windows 64 bit is anything but. I do hope 64 bit support pans out, but I'm not holding my breath. Kerbal Space Program is another Unity game that has tried to get 64 bit going in Windows -- and they basically gave up.
