What about taking some Ideas from Kerbel Space Program or Space engineers?

Hey guys,
i played the prototypes for Subnautica and I really liked the idea that you'd be able to build your own sub. I know that the system back then was too easy and very far from perfect. But I always hoped that you'd be able to design a Sub in the future yourself. Space engineers kind of proofs that you can build spaceships, so why not submarines?
And if the player can build his own subs: Why not implement the repetition idea from KSP? The player could design his sub to perform a special goal. E.g. reach a very deep cave, catch a large fish e.t.c.

What do you think about these ideas? I know that it might be already be too late to implement them.

KSP is a building/engineering game primarily, and an exploration game second. Subnautica is an exploration/survival game first, and a building game second. I think it would be a big waste of dev time to make all the required updates for players to build their own working subs, when the key gameplay is exploration and survival. It just wouldn't bring much to the whole experience imho.

At least they are going the right direction for my mind, by having pre-built subs and base structures, but we're able to pretty much kit them out on the interior (and maybe exterior soon too) with upgrades and modules etc. to customise them a bit more for what we want to do with them :)

Your character was a colonist heading to a water world, the submarines you're building are of the colony's prebuilt schematics.

Call me crazy but it kinda breaks immersion when you have a big blocky mess exploring the ocean.

And a system like that would take a long time to make, I'd rather have the devs work on exploration, which is like the whole point of the game.
