NS dedicated server fund
Well, I am sure you were all drawn in by my stunning, cunning, original acronym! Anyways, most of the info can be seen here: http://www.kreation.org/~comprox/donations.html . Now, I don't feel great "begging for money", but people in IRC seemed quite positive to the idea, so I am giving it a try. Thanks to anyone who can help! And don't worry, I have started off the pot with a cool $500 US!

I have a question, though: If you raise more than $3300, would you be able to get more servers, or no?
If you REALLY want to continue the donations, let's contribute the money to a humane society (or place organization where each dollar means something big for a human or animal). We could make into a press release, to combat all the "games are bad for people" press we're always getting.
Besides, if this is to work properly, it will have to last a lot longer then a year, and it would have to scale with the number of players. I think 5 servers for a year would work in the very beginning, but I think we would quickly need more (I hope at least).
Lastly, I want to be able to control who is a trainer and who isn't. I'm want trainers to have pleasant teacher demeanors, social skills and game skills, not just people that donated.

My comp may be abled to habdel a loght of people. But I would hate it becase I wouldent be abled to play..
Like me.
I have ADSL and would gladly host a server. As long as the data transfer (Up and Down) didn't exceed about 700 meg a month as I have a 3 gig transfer cap.
700 is just a planning number btw.

How many people play on your server, how often, and how well NS's netcode is written.
For example, Counter-Strike averages 3k/s (up + down) for each player.
On a 16 player server, that is full half the day (12 hours) you would have:
(3 * 60 * 60 * 12) / 1024 = 126.5 megs a day
Servers eat up bandwidth like a mofo.
erm, Jedisar, are you saying you dont like NS??? then what are you doing posting on the forums =P
i get a ping of 240 to this join, melbourse australia to nashville, hey =D
This is the last I will say of the subject.
^^^ That was the most intelligent thing you posted so far. I expect that you won't say anything more.

Screw it, I don't want to start a flame war.
Hate to see you go Fool. I guess I can understand why though.
More on topic, I would help pay, but I just seriously cant afford to. I spent the last 2 weeks with $20 in my bank account ...

As for the training, I'm not too sure about this, but does it really need to be online? I am leader of the IFB NS Clan, so I could whip up some powerful offline training that takes up a week of the players time before he's done with it
I think that online training could still be used for further aqaintance with the game, but an extremely large and well made offline training would be better
"Anyone notice that when a game forces people to use teamwork it is just annoying and frustating. Take a look @ DOD, how many times have you waited at a multiple-man cap point and had your team just walk by. How many times have you screamed for ammo, as a machine gunner, but got none. The majorty of people do not use teamwork, nor do they want to. They are out for personal score and that is all they care about. I know teamwork makes clan matches much more fun but I think most of the time when a game/mod froces teamwork it turns out to be a disaster."
Then we sorta had a debate over it -- many were saying that this problem would be changed by the training servers. So if you want to avoid lots of headachs while playing I belive training servers are a must for at least 8 - 12 months after the release of NS. If NS dosent have them you know what will happen, Advil's stock will skyrocket
