A polling option available for us to use? Unless I'm incredibly stupid or blind (hopefully the latter) haha.
A general consensus option would be very efficient for us to have to vote on sensible issues for example the Reinforcement Program, new features, etc etc, you could even take these consensus to push out to trello!
Maybe Comprox could help out on this, feel free to move to Website Feedback if thats the appropriate place.
Democracy ftw!

I assume its the same as starting a discussion (thread) but just adds a poll at the top. Pretty sure I've seen it used before.
Do you have to meet a certain requirement before it is available to you?
Any reason for this ghoul? How comes everyone doesn't have the ability to create polls, could work in your favour, the forums are pretty well moderated so any misuse would get clamped down on rather quickly!
Gonna guess playtesters, CDT, UWE, moderators, and maybe veterans.
Don't ask me, it has been this way since ever afaik. Maybe @Comprox (tip by adding a @ at the front ppl will receive a notification/email ) can tell you more about why polls are handled as they are currently.
I wasn't verified cheers kouji much appreciated, I'll try making a poll in a minute.
*Update* Nope theres still no drop down arrow next to New Discussion
There is a time and place for both, but reasoned arguments should always be preferred.
I've always wanted voting in these forums (where discussion can also take place) but I think developers have been hesitant to add something that may create unreasonable expectations from voters and unneeded pressure when a certain feature isn't implemented..
But i definitely get the concern, there are some very passionate members in this community (myself included obviously) and "design by committee" methods generally end up becoming a messy nightmare.
Perhaps if disclaimers are repeatedly shoved down throats? Idk.. *shrug"
Think of it like the "agree" and "disagree" buttons. Sometimes people don't want to type out a long reply and would rather just click a button to put in their 2 cents. Plus the polls would be most suited for little things.

That is why you don't allow anyone, but make it a limited privilege that can be used more than it is now.
That hasn't really been my experience, but I guess it depends largely on what the forum is for. Star Citizen's forum largely exists at this point for feedback, ideas, and suggestions, so "do you like this feature y/n" and "do you think this is a good idea y/n" would probably be fairly common topics, basically using polls as petitions to add or remove features. For an established game or just a more general purpose forum I don't think polls would be made all that often. So I doubt it would be a problem on NS2 general, but maybe keeping them restricted on Subnautica is a good idea.
You get those via unlocking forum achievements getting, agrees and awesomes at your posts.
Overall i agree with that system as it makes sure the forum doesn't end up with tons of totally nonsense polls. Now it just should be made more public what the exact reputation is to use polls.
And also show the poll button to all users saying "You need to gain x more reputation points" in case they try to create a poll but are not allowed to create polls.
If so do they still exist? if so why haven't they been dealt with already?
My point is these forums are pretty tame (especially now as the games been out for awhile and the community has shrunk) and wouldn't really suffer from any of these supposed problems.
Believe me this forum has the same issues like many others in terms of spams and trolling, but the moderator team is quiet active so usually you should not see those "critical posts" at all.
What i was thinking about might be lowering the requirement points for creating a poll to something low like 50. That way most active users could create polls, while new users would have to stick just a little bit to the community to unlock polls. ( i guess get 2 achievements )
That would be a good solution for both sides (users and moderators) because it would make sure ppl starting polls are used to the forum and its rules and would basically allow everyone starting polls.
Yeah that seems like a fair and reasonable solution, having to meet a certain criteria than giving access to everyone seems good!
