List of species in Subnautica (Ongoing)

Hi divers!
In this thread i will try to collect all the species living on the planet in Subnautica.
At the moment you can spawn them yourself with the console command: "spawn x" without the "", where x stands for the name, as stated below, of the animals.

It would be nice if you tell me the names of some fish/plants that you found in the game and are able to spawn (e.g. the black one-eyed one).

Species I can't tell at the moment:
  • Reefback
This could be either a fish or a plant. If you spawn it be careful because it will float/swim? away. In my opinion it looks like a horseshoe crab or something like that just with a piece of reef on its back.uc?id=0B0bv1cnc8sQ3eDl0Nmcxcy1Mdjguc?id=0B0bv1cnc8sQ3UkNQV2xtRHM5T1U

    This is great! Bookmarked

Edit: anybody else love how polished most of these are at such an early build of the game?

Hi Squiddapult, thanks for your appreciation, that pushes me quite much. :D

The fact that they are in such a good form while the game overall is in such an early state was one of the reasons I started this project here. ^^

Awesome! Just thought I'd let you know that the black eye tripod things are called jumpers.

I was looking for the name to spawn the Cyclopse submarine in the prefabs.db file, but I dont think its in yet.
I did however retrieve the 'WorldEntities' list which has spawnables including Creatures:

    BladderFish
    Bleeder
    BloodGrass
    Boomerang
    BoomerangFishSchool
    Eyeye
    GarryFish
    Gasopod
    GasPod
    Grabcrab
    GrabcrabHome
    Grower
    HoleFish
    HoleFishDummy
    HoleFishSchool
    HoopFish
    HoopFishSchool
    HoverFish
    JellyRay
    Jumper
    LavaLarva
    Oculus
    Peeper
    RabbitRay
    Reefback
    ReefbackSimple
    Reginald
    RockGrub
    SandShark
    SpadeFish
    Stalker
    TestDrone

Not all are spawnable yet though. The largest creature I could spawn was the Gasopod

Thanks @Sir_zino! Tested it, made a new picture and changed the name thanks to you. :)

@Sammey‌ oh really nice, thanks a lot. Opening the prefab.db with notepad++ was one of the first things I did, but it was written in one row (without breaks) so i gave up to search in it. :/
How did you open it though?

Also I belive that reefback will be moving ecosystem at some point. In the reefback concept art there where loads of fish living on it.

    I'm disappoint.
This list is clearly lacking the most interesting (and elusive) specimen of them all:
    • Secret Fish

      JK :D

@Griswolda I opened with notepad++ as well :) but I replaced certain lines of interest with \n ( linebreak ), so the items get listed under eachother :)
For example replace Creatures/ with \n and you will get all the creatures on a newline

ps. make sure you enable 'Extended' on the Replace tab

@Sir_zino Wow I missed that one! Its huge!!! :D

My god that reefback is exactly the kind of thing I was excited for

    What about having crustaceans?

Lobsters, Crabs, Shrimp (well you know the mutated kind).
  • GriswoldaGriswolda Austria Join Date: 2014-11-02 Member: 199340Members
    @Hamlet I was scared for a moment oO ^^

@Sammey I am out of school for half a year now and didn't come up with using \n. *facepalm*
Thanks a lot, now I will make pictures of some plants too. :D

I don't exactly know what you mean, but there eventually will be crustaceans. But at the moment the only one in game is the Reefback(I would count it to crustaceans) I think.
Sorry for the low resolution, couldn't find better ones.

Oh My... So it's a safe bet that you can't cook these guys in a pot then? LOL

Oh man, imagine coming across these guys in a dark cave.... I can see a massive coronary happening facing down these guys. Who comes up with these things?

A creature named "floater" is spawn able in the newest daily patch!

The "cave thing" (top image) has square teeth though, scary looking yes, but most likely herbivore. Still best confirm that before approaching. ;)

I really understand that :) (I hate wow personally since cata but all of my friends also started again)

The first hour or two I played I often saw some creatures and then came back to your list to see them again :)
    and I think I never saw a lavalavra :D

So your list is really one of the best topics for me :D

At some point i want them to add a Leviathan at an UNFATHOMABLE depth. Like around 3000.

Bit of an discrepancy with what you listed as the Stalker is actually the Lava Lizard, and the Snout Shark, as called from early development documents, is the new Stalker. As when you kill the Stalker (Snout Shark), it will occasionally drop a Stalker Tooth. The Console commands may lead you away, as the Bladderfish is also known by another name as the Airsack. The Lava Lizard does not naturally spawn at the moment as there isn't yet a lava biome, as partly so with the Lavalarva, but they can spawn in thermal vents. Though I only work with the information I know, and I may be wrong as information in early access games does tend to change...

I swear, if that does get implemented, I will piss myself for real and cry on my bed for hours. I have INTENSE thalassophobia.

It's gonna be implemented. When they first opened the trello board there was a model for the Leviathan (sea emperor)
From the trailer. And not long ago they was a creature list that featured it. Said it lived in the lava zone.
