Hello there

I got a new computer a few weeks ago. On my old pc ns2 was running ok with 30 fps but no bigger problems at all. now with my new pc i am very happy about the performance getting never less then 80 fps. Anyway playing ns2 hasn't been the most enjoyable task lately because 1 or 2 weeks after i started playing ns2 with my new pc a random soundbug started to occur. When i start my gamesession everything goes fine until at some point (appears between 5-20 minutes of playingtime) my microphone stops working (no signature of income in the options (i notice it because people are not reacting to what i say and then by checking my options)) but even worst a few minutes after my sound stops working too and I hear literally NOTHING. When i now try to change my microphone or soundsource in the option my game freezes and only lets itself close with the tabmanager (i have win7 home premium) and after that my pc is really slow until i restart it. This problem only appears while playing ns2 so i am pretty sure it has something to do with the game itself. I already tried deleting and reinstalling the game twice and it did not help.

I'd greatly appretiate all the help i can get since i really enjoy the game since picking it up on humble bundle already having 350 hrs of playtime. I dont want having to stop because of some stupid files not working.

Greetings
Tim

Try the following two things: 1. verify the game cach (rightclick on the game in steam - verify game cache) 2. deinstall and reinstall your audio drivers (download newest from your motherboard manufacturer's site).

Try to get a dmp file by running techsupport.exe (located in your ns2 folder) while NS2 is STILL OPEN / CRASHED..
This should create a huge techsupport.zip file that you can upload to a free drop box account (or any hosting site) and link to us here.

Here is the dump file, but its the file from restarting the game after rebooting the system. However the same kind of problem as when the game crashes/freezes.

    My equipment is:
    CPU i7-4770
    MBO: Gigabyte Z87-HD3
    RAM: 8GB
    Nvidia GTX 770 driver 337.88
    Win 7 HP 64bit
Microphone is in a microsoft webcam or astro a40 rev 2013
    Soundcard Terratec PCI 5.1 PCI

it almost sounds like something is leaking memory.... can you check how much memory is in use & available at the moment its slow and crashes?
