So I'm able to start the game and pick a server, the loading screen goes normally and then the game locks up on the downloading mod screen. I tried many things:
Unsubscribed to all mods
Deleted workshop folder
Verified integrity of game cache
Started the game with -nomodupdate
I haven't really seen a post that has the same problem as me where its crashing at this specific spot

That means you have to wait for 266 which will be realeased in a few days and hopefully ends this nonsense.
Even deleting the game and redownloading not going to fix this?
Nope as ns2 will still try to dl the to your steam account bounded workshop items.
Thank again.
-disabled steam cloud sync for NS2
-deleted C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxx\4920 folder
-restarted steam
-started game
-quit game
-enabled steam sync for NS2
-started game when steam asked nether download or upload data to/from steam cloud. I chose upload
-and that was it
I am not sur I clearly understand you because english is not my native langage.
All I say is I had this : "So I'm able to start the game and pick a server, the loading screen goes normally and then the game locks up on the downloading mod screen."
I tried everything like "deleting my userdata folder/ options files all installed mod" (just one mod for me)
And it did not work.
Then I follow the steps discribe above, It did work. A simple before/after statement. I dont claim to understand how or why this is working.
Sorry for my bad english ;(
All we say is that it's kinda logically that you can't really get rid off the options as long as steamcloud is enabled as it syncs the options files all the time after you delete them.
So if you would have deleted the options files after you disabled the steamcloud it would have worked
We'll be addressing this in a future patch so it is not a problem, however.
