CANT PLAY! Starting game and it just flicker back to windows

When I try to play the game from steam or in the install folder it goes black, I hear the sound of the game and then I come back to windows desk top.
I tried to run DXSETUP.EXE and remove the folder called shaders (found an solution in a thread) but that didnt work.

Yesterday I could start the game, but I only ran the optimisation part and then I had to leave.

Any suggestions what to do?

    Sry but this error dont seem to have anything to do with NS2, it's the same problem with the game spelunky.
    Does anyone know what causing it?

    Find an solution for those intrested. The adobe creative cloud and/or set the game in -window mode (launch options) did the trick.

    I will chime in for this for the sake of future people having the same problem :)

    Problem: NS2 minimize to desktop, can't launch.

    I had been having problems running NS2 a lot lately, when I launch it from steam, it just minimizes back down and returns me to the desktop, briefly hearing game sounds.

    Solution: The fix was the same for me as bombastik above. Whenever adobe creative cloud is running in the background (it will do so on startup as default after installing any adobe software) NS2 will not launch. 100% true every single time. By ending the creative cloud process with task manager before or even after launching NS2, it will work again.

    CC is a common software, and is a weird incompatibility, so I imagine a lot of people might have this as the problem without realizing.
