    appears in your log you have this "new issue". Which seems to be only fixable by unsubscribing all mods at workshop.

    It's not a new issue, I was walking people through fixing it in 264. Should probably go in a FAQ somewhere: "Crashing before main menu or very early in a server join? Launch with -nomodupdate or unsubscribe from all mods in workshop."

    Noticed i used "new issue" just to express it has nothing to do with the issue this thread was started about? But you are right about adding it maybe to the FAQ ;)

    NS2 worked fine yesterday... now today I can't even get into main menu, it just hangs and then crashes.

    EDIT: Unsubscribing from all mods fixed my issue. wtf?

    If unsubscribing from mods doesn't fix your crash before menu:
    Try right clicking NS2 in your steam library > Properties > click Set Launch Options > Type : -noerrors
