Abnormal Ping and Jitter while on NS2

Hi, my ISP provides a 25down/3 up service that consistently tests close or past those maximums on speedtest.net:

I am using a wireless connection because it is a huge eyesore to use an ethernet connection (I am upstairs, the modem is downstairs) for me and my roommates. I understand that wireless connections are never as consistent as ethernet connections.
Details about my wireless connection:
I use a TP-Link 300 mbps WN951N N300 Wireless adapter 9ihttp://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WN951N-Wireless-Advanced-Low-profile/dp/B0034CL2ZI/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1399595416&sr=8-15&keywords=TP+Link+300+mbps+adapter)
I connect to a Medialink Wireless-N 2.4 GHz 300 mbps wireless router (http://www.amazon.com/Medialink-Wireless-N-Broadband-Internal-Antennas/dp/B00A3YN0Z0/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399595473&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=medialink+300+mbps+N300+roouter)
Here are some tests for the quality of connection, the Jitter is high in the third one, and this is something that appears to be connected to my ISP:

Now, you see that the average ping (across multiple servers) for these six tests is 60 ms.
The average jitter from the quality tests is 27 ms., 12.5 ms if you discount the outlier.
Packet loss was 0% for all three tests.
Now, here's what I ping across all servers while browsing NS2 servers:

Yeah, those make sense. For very local servers (For instance, LA Jest server), I still get about double what I should in ping while browsing. This is my first concern with NS2-specific latency.
Here's what I ping in an actual server (in this case, IBIS combat server). Note that my ping has a tendency to spike to the 300s intermittently. I am LicenseToChill.

That is easily double what I should be pinging. These latencies only happen in NS2, across all servers.
So, I'm posting a technical support thread in the hope of receiving support. If you need more information, let me know.

Yes, the lag appears in other Steam games atm
How would I go about fixing this?
