  Competitive NS2 and pub NS2 are totally different. I'd suggest you start out by just playing pugs. That way you can meet members of the competitive community, as well as get some games in. Click here to join the Steam group and grab the Mumble info. Usually an announcement is posted in the group when a pug is starting to get organized
