Could Not Connect To Game Server

this is what happens when i try to connect to my freinds server, and hes NOT running a lan game.. why is this happening and is there a way to fix it?

    this sould be posted in the 'Tech Support' forum

    does he?
    go into muntiplayer
    then internet games
    then create game
    then pick a map?

    cause iv never seen the problem unlees u try to connect to a LAN game from the net or you use console

    yes he is, because i asked him.. and weve been playing HL since opposing force, so i think he should know how to start a server. expessially since its worked before in other conversions.

    i didnt know how long ud been playing it , some people think that lan games let others play on it from the net.

    anyway dont know y its happening then , try and load up a mod that works then use custom game to load NS then make a NS server?

    Its all cause the dev team for some(stupid) reason put
    sv_lan 1
    in the listenserver.cfg, making all non-dedicated servers LAN servers. Check your NS folder and edit the listenserver.cfg with notepad and change sv_lan 1 to 0 or just remove it alltogether.
    Or you can do sv_lan 0 in the console every time you have started a game(after its done loading the map).
