    I played through the campaign, and it was very fun but short.

    Well that is because they took out Multiplayer for now and just have the single player till they are done with Mutiplayer.

    So, Feb. 26th it is!

    Finally, after five years if waiting this amazing project will see the light of day. I'm just a little upset that there is no legitimite way of financially supporting the devs and their hard work.

    The original was actually really good, sure things could have been better, it was a lot of fun and had a lot of really good mods.

    Mostly what I remember of the original is having a terrible graphics card yet still trying to play because I liked the whole resource mechanic so much. Kinda like NS, minus aliens and commander, plus vehicles and outdoors fighting.

    Not in relative terms. Compared to other, more common MP shooters like quake and BF, Renegade shares a reasonable amount of traits with NS. For example destroyable bases, buying higher rank soldiers/vehicles, managing ressources. It also is very dependend on team communication and coordination. For me, it is probably the game that came closest in tactical depth and thrilling gameplay to what NS2 has to offer.

    I used to play C&C Renegade a lot in 2007-2012ish but sadly very little these days (although looking forward to an upcoming comm war between two of the remaining active communities ;) ). Then I found NS2 and it is one of my favourite MP FPS games now. :D

    Although I am not the biggest fan of Renegade-X, I am looking forward to at least trying multiplayer Ren-X.

    They are building it presently. They were going without one for quite some time now, because of lack of qualified admins.

    No, this game is based on the timeline of C&C 1, which didn't feature fanatics (I believe, I actually am very unfamiliar with the C&C universe). You can play as Sakura, Mendoza, Raveshaw and a couple more that I don't know the names of.

    There is always this Renegade mod though:

    Finally, after six years of waiting. Some ppl here might like reading stuff like:

    Sweet! ...Torrent download doesn't seem to be working though. Darn.


    Anyway, got to test it. It's pretty great! Might be biased after managing to hit top of the scoreboard on only my second round... Officer is great value for your credits.

    Well, it's not polished yet, but pretty cool to play. Again, it's totally free fan made game, quality/price ratio is close to infinite.
    Fun times were had.

    Sad part: buying black hand plus nuke, and only then learning that water is 'not playable area' and it kills you.
    Awesome part: Chinook full of teammates infiltrating enemy base.

    I have played this myself and I can say it is very faithful to the original, if changed a bit. Some mod features for Renegade are now standard for Renegade X. A few maps only have their night variants. There are a few bugs, glitches and crashes however the gameplay itself is still good. There have been a few things changed, but overall it is very faithful. I'm actually surprised at how well it runs and plays in the UT engine.

    It appeared very laggy to me at first (I play on laptop), but turning Dynamic lights off did magic. Almost everything else is on high now and I get fps compared to NS2 on low :)

    Really fun game. Would recommend. Once you learn the maps, classes and vehicles, there is no OP side, which seems to be GDI with their tanks at the beginning, later you'd think NOD is OP with stealth black hands and nukes, then you realize you can counter everything and there is balance actually.
