Looking for advice on a layout

Hey

I'm new to forums, and the game but looking at all the content has really inspired me to create a map of my own. I've got a basic story for the map pinned down, and have recently been working on a layout for the map. I've made this layout for the map and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on it. (Sorry for the poor quality)

Nevermind the notes they're mostly rambling.

For now, there's going to be 9 RT's (The ones in Fuel and Diner won't be there) and 4 TP's. The map seems like its going to be pretty small so I'm guessing I want less RT's than I originally intended. I was also thinking of spacing some of the RT's around the mid-TP's out so things are a bit less hectic in there.
Anyway, if you guys could post some feedback on the layout and maybe some more obvious improvements I could make before I start to greybox it that'd be awesome.

Cheers.

I can't get the image to work, so I can't really say anything yet :/

Welcome to the community and mapping in general, Kurdy!

Firstly, you're off to a great start. Designing a map is no easy task and the best step forward is putting something down on paper to help you visualize what you will eventually create.

I don't have much in the way of feedback just yet, but you're on the right track.

    Can't wait to see more.

my thought would be that a phase gate in the room where the ARCs arrow is pointing (can't read your handwriting) can deny both second hive locations. Don't know how that will work out (have to test a map to see the balance). But I would suggest moving the 2 center TP further away from each other... (what I really like is that you are already calculating the lign of sight)

at first glance it looks ok, though it might be a bit long top to bottom (personal taste though?)

I would suggest that next you hammer this out in the editor in 2D and place your TP / RT and PNs down and place another screen shot here :)

once that is down it might give a clearer example of any issues that might crop up. Once the 2d part is done it should be easy to make it 3rd (greybox)! then on to play testing! and texturing

Thanks for the input guys, hopefully I can put it to good use.

The two Techpoints in the middle are a bit weird, I wanted to make it so that they were easily accessible but so there wasn't really much of a "room" to control (Like one with a double res node or Techpoint) in an attempt to keep my layout unique. But you're right, the nodes are much too close. I'll try furthering them apart and perhaps make two connected rooms inbetween?

The map isn't really going to be a huge one (hopefully) and the scale is a bit off in this drawing.

As for getting the floorplan done I'm going to do that once I get my computer upgraded and in the meantime will design the floorplans of the rooms properly.
