<div class="IPBDescription">doesnt always hit</div> does this happen to everyone or just me?

when there are marines (about 10m away) i shoot a parasite, and it misses. I shoot all over him and no hits. It only hits from close range for me.

yeah this happens to me sometimes... I think its because the marine is close to a wall or something.. Like the wall (or mostly rails) has an invisible extension that you cant see but parasites cant go thru...

Sometimes i think my parasites have an aimbot <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> I wont even have the crosshair on a guy and i'll hear my parasites hit him. Anyone else have this happen or is it just because i'm a high pinger?

I think if marine is shooting at you and you fire a parasite the bullets can hit that parasite and stop it. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Maybe...just maybe...parasite doesn't fly infinitely far? *cough*
  • dialfeeddialfeed Join Date: 2003-01-04 Member: 11775Members
    Yes,

I tried parasiting and it doesn't always hit. It could be many factors involved such as a moving marine or blocking stuctures. I think the parasite skill should be upgrated so it does not only 8-9dmg but 1 dmg every 2 or 5 seconds unless the marine heals himself, it would be funny to see Marines scramble before they die. That is all! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

I think parasite has limited range, either that or they're very inaccurate at longer ranges.

Maybe its to do with the <b>recoil</b> of your mouth when you fire the parasite?

There are 2 problems people overlook with parasite, I want to clear this up as the last couple posters are obviously confused.

(Problem 1 aka "The Real Problem")

Yes, sometimes when you shoot a marine, at medium to point blank range, it simply will not parasite him. I'm talking even about standing marines, so ping and moving objects with relation to ping is not the issue.

    (Problem 2 aka "You're a nub, aren't you.")

Parasites <b>do not</b> have infinite range. I don't know how to express how long the range actually is, but keep in mind, its alot shorter than you think. I'm not talking about, "oh, of course it can't go ALL the way down there" like some sort of uber long hallway. No, usually you can't even tag stuff pretty far away from you. The poster is, again, <b>not</b> talking about this. This problem is not the problem at hand. Please learn that parasite does not, in fact, have infinite range.

to test range, find a long corridor with a switch at the end, then slowly advance using parasite. That way you can work out eh effective range of parasite.

Also, I get the autohit parasite at times, I aim before them and thuk, It hits, I always thought (at least was told) it was hitscan, and have used it as such. Although, after some use, you get to be fairly proficient with it and ive managed to parasite kill (not constantly hit them to die, but cleaned up a marine that was running away, and usually totally by surprise and much to his chagrin, he dies by parastie. But I usually just tag em as they run off so I know when the come back. BTW am I the only one whot hinks parasite should be contagous? like if one parasited marine makes it back to base, he can infect the others. For buildings, it wont infect, but marines hwo get in close contact get infected. dunno if its codeable though.

i dont like the idea because its straight off TFC's medic.
  • AkumaAkuma Join Date: 2002-11-18 Member: 9219Members, Constellation
Well the last suggestion isnt a "Damage over time infection" more like the parasite just sticks to more people.

Not deadly in itself but not bad.

If TFC medic could shoot that medpack oh god thatd be the only class you'd see =P

this is especially annoying on eclipse when all the marines are in the back of their base building <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

I doubt the Marines can hit the parasite, because it's not really a projectile. Just like the bullets, they're instant-hit weapons with nothing real, I think they're called "hitscan."

And J3$U$ I need u to forgive me again for I have killed many Marines.

    Smithboy: yes, parasite is hitscan

Pika-Cthulhu: Yes, you are the only one who thinks that. Yes, I'm pretty sure it's codable. No offense, but it's a terrible idea <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

no i dun think so.. thats jus lame.... if nything.. maybe make parasites dmg increased... maybe hmmm 10 dmg per hit... too much.. then lower...

doin a few dmg per second is annoying... because in battle it wont help...plus.. most people kill themselves when they get parasited nywyaz.. so it makes that obsolete.. tehrefore i propose jus a increase in dmg.. so u can kil off weak ones.... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

well, if ya miss, just try to hit them again. I usually shoot off at least 2 parasites per target. if they chase you hide and ambush if not get energy and repeat.

it is my opinion that the parasite is external (like a worm, shot in the skin and stickin out. A bit like a much smaller version of the big one on fades). So when a person is parasited it is actually visable. This way you can run away from that person like a crazy **** and in later versions, if other marines hold use @ the parasite they could pull it out / remove it taking as long as it does to weld stuff. (the parasited marine could take 20 damage in the removal from the sucker fightin to hold etc etc.) Just an idea so i'll post this in ideas forum after.

Sometimes you just need to run away and wait..it take some time for the yellow circle to appear and the sound dont work all of the time for me...

Parasite is worthless to me since I track with my ears anyway
