"Invalid Data" when trying to join most servers.

Hello,

On roughly 95% or so of the servers I try to join, I receive an "Invalid Data" Error where I am booted to the main menu. The problem began after the latest patch. I have also attached my "Log.txt" folder - I believe the issue has to do with:
"Error: Couldn't open file 'D:/build/assets/materialsrc/biodome/biodome_glass_01.material'
Error: No shader specified for material 'D:/build/assets/materialsrc/biodome/biodome_glass_01.material'"

Details:
I attempt to join an open server with capacity available.
It goes through the usual steps (precache etc) before reaching initializing.
Once there, it will go back to the "Onos VS Marine" loading screen.
It then brings me to the main menu with the error message "Invalid Data".

I have around 200 hours racked up, this has not been an issue prior to the most recent patch.

I use no mods, and only have the base game installed. I have tried both changing the settings and leaving them alone (Resolution, PoV, etc).

I am able to open a training server, and play a full match to conclusion.

Attempts to solve:
As per the instructions from:
http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/131428/obby-s-full-nuke-ns2-guide-only-way-to-be-sure

I have reinstalled repeatedly, I have verified my NS2 install, I have deleted every scrap of evidence of NS2 from my hard drive etc. I am on my fourth reinstall since the weekend.

I have exactly the same situation.

Well the first thing is that sadly the d:\ file error is not going to be your issue. One of the folks who did that art left a path in some of the biodome art used in the main menu that he/she shouldn't have. It spams that error but its not a huge deal.

In both cases there you download a few mods, then the game is unable to install them correctly.

I would delete the mod cache folder,%appdata%/Natural Selection 2/workshop in case the local copies of some of them are at fault. I would also unsubscribe to any mods that you have active at startup. the mods menu make sure nothing says active.

I would run chkdsk against your windows drive. It seems odd that you cannot compile shaders for Combat.

After that I would try joining a relatively mod free server, an UWE official, and see what happens then.

    Hey!

Thanks for the reply. Too bad about the D:\ thing, was hopeful!

For mods, I only ever download server side mods. I am not subbed to any mods, nor have I ever played anything except Vanilla NS2 with Server side mods.

I have deleted the folder, will give that an attempt. If that fails I am going to reboot and do the chkdsk.

Finally, I have tried to join the UWE Official servers [and a number of others] and all return the same error. As of last night the only servers that loaded me in were "Noob ONLY Server 1/2" and a Korean one.

Alright I have tried three things with no success:
I deleted the folder and tried to join UWE Official East.
I rebooted and let chkdsk run, tried to join the same server no dice.
I deleted the folder after running chkdsk, and tried joining the same server (17/18 people) and no dice.

Interesting, It looks like the only error in your log is the one about the network messages.

Are you runnign any firewall/network monitoring software?

There was a company whose name i helpfully cannot remember whose cards only work with ns2 in specific modes but i cannot recall who they are. So what does your network connection info look like?

It then dumps you back to the menu causing the D:\ errors.

As far as I am aware, I am not. I will go double check all of that, but for my computer I run DMZ pretty much nonstop as it has nothing on it except games, which I don't want any connections blocked on.
The only firewall I have is Windows, and it is off.
For anti-virus I use MalwareBytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. I have not installed either recently and have had all of them running for the past 6 months together.

How do I find my network connection info?

That has nothing to do about firewall or anything. I can pretty much guarantee there is a mod running that you have not disabled. Everything should be No. Or you have a ghost mod in the mod menu.

You are running client side mods.. Unsubscribe through steam workshop and then deactivate through the ns2 mods menu and then join an official uwe server only, and then print the log from that should you still fail

This is my steam page on Steam Workshop.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/txors75de9tim6s/NS2 Mods In Game.jpg
This is my in-game Mod page. (Had to use my phone as for some reason Print screen would only provide a black screen.)

The mods listed are all mods which were provided via the servers I have joined in the last two log entries. The first two I received from the UWE Official server. The remainder came from the KR Demonic server [You can check if you'd like.]

I have not, and have never used any client side modification for NS2. The only mods are those I install when I join a server.

How would I find if there is a 'ghost mod' in the list?

Do you see how they say active "yes"?

A mod should just be disabled when it goes against consistency, it shouldn't be booting you from the server... I don't see how disabling it makes a difference. The server should force your client to do that when it fails.

On a somewhat related note, can that D:\ error spam PLEASE be fixed. It's very misleading to people unaware of why it happens and frankly is annoying.
