Does Umbra Stack?

Something I was curious about and wasn't sure where to look. Does umbra stack? Right now it blocks 6/7 shots. Would a second umbra block that 7th shot 6/7 times [(1/7 * 6/7) + 6/7]? Or could two umbras each block a different 6/7 shots to result in no bullet penetration (unlikely)?

Multiple umbras do not stack for cumulitive effect, however you can use this to create larger areas of umbra. The only situation I can think they would stack in is if you had severall umbras down a hallway... like this..

    marine----------umbra----------umbra--------alien

Doesnt umbra only work when you are *inside* it... ?

Yes, but you've got more room to move if you've got more umbra. Dodging still helps

Oops. I thought umbra DID stack. Guess that's why I keep getting splattered as a lerk.

Umbra should technically affect bullets flying through it even if the target is outside the cloud opposite the Marine (or if the Marine was in the cloud), but I don't think it does.

No, there was quite a heated argument over that. We agreed that would be more realistic, but simply too effective from a gameplay perspective.

Nope, umbra doesn't stack, nor does primal scream. Spores do however.

Show me something you've created, Sekdar.

If anyone has a method of problem solving that isn't trial and error or applying previous solutions from similar situations (or a mixture; applying solutions from any and every other situation).

I would REALLY like to hear it please PM me.

It's actually kind of surprising how many people don't understand umbra. I was just playing a large 20player game where fades were getting greased by a fortified marine position with a load of turrets, siege, phasegate for backups, and quite a few players.

4 fades couldn't take it out by themselves... until we got one lerk in there to umbra. Then it was game-over for that location. No GLs = easy pickins with umbra to take the bite out of the bullets.

It's also interesting to see how many fades hang back and use Acid rockets instead of going up with the swipe. Swipe carves through turrets in no-time, where acid rockets seem to have far less effect.
