Can you provide your spec list so someone with more knowledge can further assist you, also have you tried waiting for the 'black screen' to disappear?

Generally, a tech support zip would be helpful.

This is usually caused by using a renderer that your machine cannot handle. The easiest solution is to delete the file at:

    %appdata%/Natural Selection 2/system_options.xml

Then run the game again. If it still does not work edit the same file, look for D3D9 and replace it with D3D11

If neither of those work run the tech support exe in the ns2 root. and post that to this thread

Yes ive waited over 30 minutes for the "black screen" to go away it hasn't, my other games still work and im running a brand new gaming rig il just say some of the more basic specs such as it has a i7-4770k cpu clocked to 3.5 ghz and a GeForce gtx 760 gpu with 8 gb of ram and a crossfire mother board.... I've been able to run ns2 with maxed out settings for a month or so which was when I got the game without much errors but around 2 weeks ago that was when I turned on the setting "reflections" it started to have fatal errors and would continue to crash when I loaded a game or at the least I would be missing textures so I ended up turning off reflections and I tried to play a game it did not help at all so I decided to turn down all of my graphic settings which again did not help I then stopped playing ns2 due to these crashes and got into Rome 2 which I can run extreme-ultra settings for and it ran perfectly but when I got bored of that game I went back to ns2 only for it to be a black screen with a glowing cursor and the sound still playing I've tried to re boot plenty of times nothing has changed and I've re-installed ns2 as well still nothing has happened...(what is a tech support zip haha....?)

Rome has nothing to do with this game, that part of your post is not needed what so ever

Second go to your games settings.cfg and make sure your render is dx9, if it is then try dx11, also make sure you're running in fullscreen mode and not windowed (I noticed when I alt tabbed and came back in my screen was black)

    like @confused said

tech support is located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\techsupport.exe

no I was using rome as a example and I can't access game menus through the game... as in the main menu is a black screen and in game it is as well, ive also been running in fullscreen mode

What fixed it? Also I doubt it's the 'same' settings, that's more than a 50% drop in framerate which is unlikely

I deleted the files that confused brought up... but now my framerate is very bad... I might have done something to my gpu cuz my frames have dropped a lot on all of my games a lot such as lets just use a exsample for the frame drop on a simple game like minecraft I used to run 400+ at almost all times now I cant get over 80.... I checked my gpu over on the outside... nothing looks off so I have no idea anymore none of my games are running like they used to including ns2....

I tried de fragging re installing a few of my games doing security scans for corrupted files but nothing has helped at all... but now this subject is beyond ns2 so this isn't the right place to put this is it....
