all I get is a black screen now , with the arrow

    Please use only directx9 in your graphics options.
    And please review this if you are not running windows.

    If you are on windows go to the system_options.xml file (located in C:\Documents and Settings\"Username"\Application Data\Natural Selection 2" on Windows XP) and change the <graphics> setting between D3D9/D3D11/OpenGL. If these do not fix your problem also attempt changing <window-mode> between windowed and fullscreen. You can also delete these lines entirely to reset them to the defaults.

    Additionally check the NS2.exe properties and make sure the window mode is set to "Normal window" and not "Maximized" or "Minimized". Then in compatibility make sure all settings are default and that "Run in compatibility" is unchecked.

    Other than that I have not seen any other causes of this error.
