I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit using the latest steam, running it from the terminal, and this is the output I get when I try to start the game.
Btw, I'm able to play DoD Source and Team Fortress 2 just fine on Linux.
Game update: AppID 4920 "Natural Selection 2", ProcID 5536, IP 0.0.0.0:0
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "overlay-scrollbar"

Any thoughts to this problem would be greatly appreciated because I used to play Natural Selection back in the day and loved it so much. But I stopped playing it when I made the switch to Linux a few years ago and now that it's out for Linux I'd really love to try to play this sequel!

    Howdy, are you running the binary from the command line? If so, it needs to be done using run.sh If you are doing that my apologies.

    I would run the steam gui and see if the update processes there instead.

    What exactly is the command I need to enter into the terminal to use run.sh? Because right now all I enter in the terminal is 'steam'

    You can also run it using the steam run script in ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime as follows:

    $ ./run.sh ../../SteamApps/common/Natural\ Selection\ 2/ns2_linux32

    It is probably better to stick to running from the steam gui for this one.

    Also if you are using non us decimal separators I'd recommend you temporarily switch to Starting Steam with "LANG=en_US steam"

    All be honest, I have no idea what you are talking about. What exactly do I have to input into the terminal to do this?
