Hey all, long time forum lurker and first time poster. As I hadn't seen a thread about this yet I thought it would be a good opportunity for a first post. i49 Will mark my 5th insomnia LAN and I was super excited about this year anyways, and with the post a few weeks back about the European Open finals being there I really cant wait
So more to the point, I plan on playing/watching plenty of NS2 this year at i49, but besides that LANs are always a great chance to meet awesome people that enjoy the same games you do. So who else is attending i49 this year? And of those of you going who would be interested in a community meet up/seeing if we can get a fun tournament going for NS2 as well?
For anyone who has no idea what the hell i49 is, link to the website here: http://insomniagamingfestival.com/
As far as I'm aware tickets are still available for those who may be interested in coming who aren't already.

It's a tad daunting.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every iseries I have attended and I would recommend it to anyone who considers themself a gamer. What you play at the LAN isnt really that important, people play anything and everything. The only issue may well be if you dont know anybody else in attendance and cant persuade any friends to come with you. I went to my first LAN with my old BF2 clan at the time, so there was a small group of us and it was brilliant. Even thought most of us have moved on to different games and other communities we all still attend the summer iseries as a group and have a great time.
My recommendation would be to find some people you know, either friends IRL, members of a community you are a part of, or even people on this forum also considering going. When recruiting friends for a LAN its also handy to know that you dont need a PC to play, it is possible to bring a console and there are plenty of people who do so. While they might argue everything you can do at a LAN you can do at home, its all about the atmosphere at a LAN and it is a fantastic one at that.
I just checked the seat picker and there is one last seat on the row where me and my friends are sitting (quite a few of us intend on playing a fair amount of NS2) so you are more than welcome to join us. They are all really friendly guys (as are most people at these events) and while it may be daunting I've yet to see someone attend a LAN going home disappointed they came .
Feel free to add me on steam (same display name as the forums here), ill be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I have to run it past my Steam and RL mates yet so hopefully I'll find a couple of people going along. The offer to join you guys is really kind and I may take you up on that if no one pipes up.
I'll add you on Steam (once I'm home from work) anyway as I do have a few questions plus you sound like a top chap.
Cheers!
LANs are great and a fantastic way of playing some good games and meeting people you often play against. These days I live up in the lakes and with young kids its too much of a hassle to go off LANing.
I'll definitely look into the next one though!
@ForlornHope Tis a shame indeed! Not sure how unlikely it is of not happening in the UK again, insomnia LANs are some of the biggest in Europe so its entirely possible for NS2 to make another appearance. Guess its sort of dependent on what sort of reception it gets this year, and I'm certainly hopeful its a good one!
Let's meet up somewhere. Oh, and saturday night is party time
I will be there from thursday until monday in seat H3-Q1, @Ren26 will be there next to me at H3-Q2 so just drop by anytime after you arrive and we can sort something out
@ForlornHope it is possible to buy spectator tickets for a day. I assume the final will be on one of the weekend days so if you arent working then you could always show up just for the day to watch the final and to meet Mr Blind
I just realised it runs over to the Monday so I checked my work calendar and the same sodding colleague has booked that day off too. FFS!
Ta for the idea though!
