after the awesome ENSL event in Cologne, Germany (2012.04.12) and where i
spoke to Charlie, i started to think again about my Natural
Selection 2 Trading Card Game Project.

Maybe you remember me, Charlie?

It was an honor for me and i can presentate you now, and the whole
community, my official Natural Selection 2 Card Game Conceptplan.

It's a simple plan, that everyone can see and understand to have a good view on all the features, designed by myself.

It's the beginning of the project and i updated the type of the game
from a 'Trading Card Game' to a 'Card Game', cause it's better and
easier to develope for me.

No boosterpacks and no big hunt for ultra rares for money.

Pay once, get full game and have fun!



I hope you guys like it and give me support, that my project get more public and UWE answers on this.

When everything is fine, i can manage some things better (like the copyright).

I do this for you, we like boardgames and i got more work samples for my game designer life.





!Question!

I copyied some details out of the Viewtool from Natural Selection 2 like
a hive in the down right corner and paste it into the conceptplans.

This type is not puplic cause i question about the copyright.

Is it okay, when i use them or not?

When not, i keep them offline.

Hello Unknown Worlds,



in my Community-Profile you can see, that my hobby is Game Design.

One of my biggest projects was a own Trading Card Game, which was offered for commercial sale in a local big city.

I've planned it all myself, designed and financed.

I want to study Game Design soon in the Games Academy in Germany, Frankfurt am Main.

I had success through my own experiences and now i want to expand this experiences.

Bring it up to a new level.



My idea is: A Trading Card Game for Natural Selection 2.



I can design for you Card-Layouts and write down a awesome Game-Concept, when you like to see something.

This big project will enlarge my future applications.

Some people dont like to hear something more about Cardgames, cause there are to expensive or this is a old concept.

These people represent only the opinions of others!

The best example is the game Battle Forge: <a href="http://www.battleforge.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.battleforge.com</a> and shows that even today, card games are successful and the perfect way to illustrate something.

I learned that a big point is: Individuallity.

Player-Characters will be reflected in the Cards themselves and find their own style of play.



Natural Selection 2 has the basics for an expandable system.

What did you say, Unknown Worlds?

    If this actually happens I'd buy a deck or two and give it a whirl. Haven't really played a TCG since the Weatherlight expansion for MtG but I'd definitely be down to get into a new one provided it was good.

    I think your best bet to pitch this to UWE would get a sketch up of various card examples and a loose rule structure.

    Personally, I'd go for something in the style of NS2. Maybe that's a little to extreme, but that's just how I roll.

    Each player has a BASE panel and a UNIT panel. BASE panel is what is attacked (with the CC/HIVE being the player's life), and UNITs being what attack or defend. One card for each can be played each turn, and you have separate BASE and UNIT decks. Kharaa Hive starts with an ability that all tapped Skulk units can attack any Marine units that attack the Hive.

    Both players have 6 *vanilla* units on the field. Killing a vanilla unit destroys its accessories (not traits) and flips it until the start of the next turn. Marines flip a card back for every IP they have each turn. Kharaa can flip one card per turn, but every turn they do not flip adds a future flip for free. UNIT decks are full of equipment (SGs, JPs, FTs, Lifeforms) and traits (Quick, Pro Skulk, Pro Fade, Good Shot, Tactical, Dodge Expert). BASE decks have structures (Extractors, Crag, Arms Lab, Obs). Each CC/Hive also keeps an extra player normally hidden. A team can jump that player out to defend or attack, but they can take no further actions (BASE or UNIT related) after that turn until they replace him.

    The game consists of throwing your units back and forth at each other like every other card game. Pro Fades will get murdered and have to skirmish around as Skulks until another Fade Evolution card is drawn. Pro Skulks will be doing a lot of the damage early on, and will be the meat of many decks. Coms will hop out of IPs and get murdered, causing their base to get pummeled. BASE cards will be easy to destroy, with Hives/CCs being a real pain to bring all the way down early on.

    Sounds way too complicated and impractical. I love it!
