New graphics card = amazing gameplay

Been a long time ns fan and started playing ns2 awhile ago. It was fun but it was always.."stuttering" or "laggy". I just thought it was the game and though it was still fun i still got this "unfinished product" feeling and I quit. I mean my graphics card was not that bad, 4 years ago was pretty good (HD 4870). Anyways got a new GTX 660 yesterday and tried to think of the most demanding game I had. I opened up ns2 put everything on max and man was it fun.. its smooth as butter. No shaking or anything just a very stable gaming experiance. To say the least, the game was much much more enjoyable and looked fantastic.

Thanks NS2 devs for making a great game! And if anyone is having the same issue as I was, think about upgrading. I got my 660 for $150.

    Where did you get a 660 for 150$?! That's ridiculously cheap iirc. I looked it up, and I was think if the 690, however 150$ for a 660 is still cheap

    It was a newegg deal that was on slickdeals a few weeks ago. Looking back now it might of been like $165 but still a good deal.

    I have a 660 and early game my fps is lovely... however I think my CPU isnt up to scratch, 3x3.6ghz athlon 2 and I still get a shitty, shitty framerate late game :(

    Yeah, half the "cheaters" in this game are not actually cheaters, they just have a rig that can get 60fps with v-sync on. It's like they're Neo in the matrix to those who have lesser rigs.

    Yeah.. It's a pity we need such an expensive system to compete in any way... I got the chance to play on a kickass system and went from a below average k/d to getting a 30/1 k/d first time out

    It's a shame more fps can't be squeezed out for the lower spec machines at lowest detail settings..

    funny, i did the same thing. just upgraded to a 660 as well from 2 5770s in xfire. MASSIVE boost in performance. went from lowest settings, everything off at 50 fps, to highest settings everything on and 60-70 fps. LOVING IT :D

    I was running on an intel e8400 with an amd 6850 and 4gb ddr2 ram. I upgraded to an intel i5 3570k with 8gb ddr3 ram and purchased a 670. Always over 60 fps until a massive fight comes along near end game where there's lots of exos/jetpacks shooting at the hive. It's insane!

    6850 and an i5 "cant remember what but its OC to 3.8" with 8gb RAM. Plays just fine for me.

    The 700 series are just rebranded and reclocked 600s.

    770 is a 680. So it should cost as much as a 680.

    ^nope. 780 has next gen arch, like the titan. 770 is in fact a 680 with bumped up memory speed and a really sexy reference cooler.

    AMD does the exact same thing.

    Best anyone can do when finding a new card is finding graphs of a lot of cards compared to each other.
