shotgun stock slam

I did a search but couldn't find it so here a post.
Why is it possible to slam with the rifle stock and not with the shotgun?
The shotgun is a close combat weapon.

First i thought the shotgun has no stock but it does have one (and else it deserved one).
I would really like to see it in ns2.

why use the stock when you can 1-shot?

The shell-by-shell reload means you don't really need a bash as a last resort like the rifle. I figure you'd get a higher chance of surviving if you loaded a single shell and fired it, rather than doing a 25 dmg bash.

I agree that it should be added, but only for the sake of consistency. (And those very rare times that you know an enemy is at less than 20 health.)

Maybe a different alternative fire mode, instead of bash?

Unleash all eight shells at once on a HUGE spread when you just really have to hit something?

Feels like the one way ticket to fades being obsolete even against single shotty marines.
