Bug: Starting ns2.exe without Steam resets sound/graphics settings

See title. 

When starting the game without steam, an error message will appear and the program will exit.  On the next run, sound and graphics settings go back to default. I don't think any other settings are changed. Key bindings remain as previously set..

    Then don't start the game without steam...
    You can find your configs in run: %appdata%/natural selection 2, i save that .xml and .json for an backup, i can recommend it for you too.
