Over 150fps still feel laggy like hell.

You can see my computer specs in my signature, but basically I entered a 16slot server and in the beginning when I move around as a marine, I have over 150fps easily but there is something with this game that even over 60fps it feels like its updating with 10fps. The problem only exist in this game. I've been playing a lot of QuakeLive and Counter Strike lately and after ive played those game and got back to NS2 its unplayable. Even with 120hz screen it feels like the game runs in 10hz or something.
I've been very patient with this game as its a very small crew and an indie game but after months with updates and NOTHING have made it better at all, i'm about to give up on this. I've already uninstalled it as I dont see the point playing it anymore untill a MAJOR performance fix is deployed. As this is a FPS game it should be smooth as every other FPS there are out there but its not. I'm mad and sad at the same time as I feel this game is really awesome and fun to play but with this performance its garbage.
I guess there is no way you can fix this issue? I would love to see the same smoothness in all other games in this one.

the server was Hg NSL map rotation.
I should note that in build 243 I turned off ambient occlusion and anti aliasing as ambient occlusion is confirmed to cause significant input lag, and anti aliasing possibly causes input lag. So I think you uninstalling the game was a bit extreme.
This doesn't really happen on the UWE official servers though which have much inferior hardware to the server in which the above happens.
Possibly, but that primarily seems to be an issue with AMD crossfired hardware. Though, I'd love to see how well NS2 does in that framerating benchmark.

Theres a couple issues here that are hard to quantify, but I do generally believe there is still input delay issues with Spark. I think that is the main leading cause of this 'slowness' feeling.
Locking fps didn't do me any good and ns2 vsync does not really work for me. To get the game smoother I had to use adaptive vsync from nvidia drivers as well as triple buffering. Disabling SLI also sounds like a plan.
Hmm.. some games do not play nice with dual GPU. Perhaps so does NS2? That issue btw is 100% driver related. Ati usually is much worse on this regard & it would explain your problem.
You may get 100+fps but SLI has weird frame time sin many cases. To exagerate A LOT.. lets say a normal frame takes 2 seconds. (I know it doesn't, just easier to explain).
If 25% of your frames run for 4 seconds instead of 2 seconds per frame.. you microstutter. However the opposite is also true! if your cards are being to fast and process 25% on 1 second, its a lot faster and your eyes also see the difference.
Now for real values.. what does it mean? the 'shortest time frames' are just to fast to see you instead of seeing 100fps.. you may see like 25, or 50.. depending on how many frames seem to have 'dropped'.
If you want to look into it I suggest doing a internet search on frame times.
However, I do like the overlay method because its allows you go to back to the specific frames in the video to figure out what may have been causing the framerate problems.
I've tried to capture with some tools and handheld camera, but couldn't find the culprit still.
after i played quake live i do not enter NS2 because the game totaly destroys the fun of gaming in its current state and those days where issuepatches happens 238/240/241 ... even more.
as i started ns2 in 234 it was a good game but the performance went worse and EVEN the inputlag since 240 i have to move my mouse with an inputlag around ~100 MS its noticeable anyways UWE did not expand and probably never do so this can take 10 years till this game is a real shooter with no problems.
If only there was a way for us with dual GPUs to remove the CPU bottleneck this game have and let the second GPU calculate its stuff instead for testing purpose only to see if it makes any difference. I dont know if this is possible but I guess its up to UWE.
I will standby and wait for new upcoming patches to see if the game will be playable again but at its state right now, I would say its not.
I'd be curious to see what a p_log from you displays though, just for comparison's sake with other known people who have this issue.
would you mind typing p_logall in the console during one round that you think would be a good example of this?
it will automatically cease recording at the end of a match, and you can find it in your hidden %appdata%\natural selection 2\ folder named somethingsomethingdarksi345692.plog
Upload it onto the internets after compressing it/zipping it and share the link here.
Thanks!
also is there a way to make the game more "brighter"? its too dark for me.
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe. No but I feel the game is a bit dark for me.
I will soon, going away the weekend so next week i'll check it out.
I took some profiler screenshots of the spike I get when changing weapons, happens only with ranged weapons, switching to axe doesnt have that spike:

Here's also a bunch of different profiler shots from situations when there is continuous intense lag or lag spikes:

Use your mousewheel to scroll down so i can actually see the render thread when its taking so much resource!
In every one of those screenshots you only have the game thread at the very top expanded... while the poor Render thread is down below hidden.
edit: the second groups of shots is very interesting... those spikes...
I have scrolled down in some of them, the rest arent scrolled down because there were no big spikes there, those were only on the top, but there is a few scrolled down shots, e.g. http://i.imgur.com/DskAwwM.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/W6k5MIQ.jpg
I play at 2560x1440 at 110HZ (yes overclocking IPS panel) and pull 110FPS and drops to 60 later in game with lots of action. Occlusion = off
I notice a big difference in 60hz and 110hz but I also understand that there is a kinda hiccupyness to other players and their positions.
I don't notice as BAD as lag as you I supppose.
