How To Kill A Fade

Motivation :)
I jumped in the CC on tanith when the map started. Soon we knew that Sat Com was their hive, so I sent a few bodies in that direction. Got a phase gate up outside and capped the resource. Some thought I was nuts, but hey, I want to try new things. Anyway, later in the game I had loads of resources (aliens had been busy trying to take out the phase outside their hive for ages) and both armor and weps at lvl3. Aliens get Fusion hive up (I waited until it was up before putting the siege in Cargo, I think it's more fun to give them a chance) and soon fades emerge. The aliens only managed to get two fades though and one was cut down pretty quickly, the other one however was roaming around causing trouble and my marines were nagging me for equipment (understandable, I had like 300 res). I refused to give them anything though and instead promised that whoever killed the last fade would get anything they wanted from me.
Boy! I have never seen so active marines! They were just sprinting out of spawn, fearlessly hunting down any bug in sight. The only problem was that some marines refused to say where they had died when the fade got them, they all wanted the bounty for themself!
Anyway, needless to say, I did not have the problem of marines running *away* from fades.
So... this isn't really a vital thing and it has almost no tactical bearing but it did show some things. The marines stopped caring about their own lives (which was a good thing, they were not carrying any equipment so they shouldn't be worried about dying). It's just too bad that there are so few opportunities to do this, but I will in the future try stuff like:
"If you save the RT that is being chewed you'll get a pack of mines"
"Whoever gets a phase up at Keyhole will get a shotty"
"Guard Reactor Room for 5 minutes and you'll get a HMG"
And of course:
"Kill the gorg and you'll be the first to get Heavy Armor"
It was a lot of fun but I guess I would have been ejected on 9 servers out of 10. Oh, and the guy who killed the first fade was the one who managed to bag the last one later, he got a jetpack, HMG and welder for the trouble, and I spammed him with ammo and health to make it more festive.

It can work if your marines are smart and have the ability to shoot and actually hit aliens (which must be a lot harder than I think, as most players never do ).
jus wondering...
wuts the BEST way to counter a marine phase rush?

To nip them in their behinds while they are ENROUTE to the hive, or while they try to set it up. Demands that kharaa make concerted attacks, and thats hard though. Or merely relentless attacks, but if it's on the opposite end of the map....
and so they stop bugging me, cause some dude wont give up.

Of course it is not a good idea to sit on 300 res doing nothing.
Of course phase gate rushes don't always work (not that this was one, more like a phase gate diversion).
This isn't a "my l337 tactic is teh win everytime I never lose I am the greates com ever" thread.
It's about *fun* and experimenting. Ever had the marines yell "I NEED A HMG" when you have max upgrades and aliens have only one hive? They *need* a HMG to fight skulks/lerks?
This "reward system" is fun, and motivates people. Instead of seeing LMG marines run *from* fades as many often do, people were chasing him down making *him*run away.
But most of all, it was fun.
Oh, and yeah, most of the marines were listening to me, this was on a mature and fun server.
And this is the only way to win and have fun doing it...

Its fun to lose sometimes
If I ever played in a game where the commander acted like that (that is to say, like a dictator who cares naught for the marines under his care) he'd be booted so fast that his head would spin around and go back in time! Playing like that, even when you are winning, defeats the purpose of being a marine anyway. It pits them against each other, which is never a good idea. The marines don't have kill/death counts for a reason you know. And in the time you had them going on a wild goose chase after this one fade, the aliens could have easlily used the dispersed nature of this marine hunt-a-thon to attck the weak point in your defenses and take back a hive of something.
I'm not saying that expirimenting in different ways of commanding is wrong, I'm just saying that this particular experiment is appaling.
And I agree that marines never chase after Fades like they should, I often find myself in a lone rush from our base full of guys to scared to mess with their non-existent death counts to go do anything.
"First marine to score a fade kill gets lotsa stuff!"
"First marine to raid the hive gets kewl stuff!"
etc. etc. Keeps your team listening... a bit.

If the marines actually get the phase gate up you have serious problems, even if the marines do not manage to put up anything else. If the gate actually gets built, get a gorge to drop some offense turrets by the gate. This will make it tough for the marines to build a turret factory or turrets and it will also distract them so the skulks can get them.

haha, right.
But then, this is obviously a trick for the pubbies, so...
one thing i have noticed about 99% of all marines is that when the acid starts flying the cowering starts and im fed up time and time again charging straight at the fade unloading a clip of lmg fire into his/hers? rapidly regenerating hide only to be taken down when maybe a few more rounds will finish it where is my backup...... clustered round the armoury not happy till they have 300 rounds of ammo...grrr
