Hello all! I wonder If i can run this game. I don't really mind playing mid-low settings if need be.

i5-3360m(2.8ghz dualcore)
Gt650m DDR3(2gb memory)
8 Gb ram.

I usually play on my 32 inch tv so I can render 1920x1080. If i need to play on my native screen(15' one) I'll play on that.

Short answer: yes, long answer: not exactly, possibly.

    Expanded long answer:
Let's first look at the system requirements posted on steam:
minimum, nvidia 8600 or ATI x800 with 1GB.
Recommended: Nvidia GTX 450 or ATI 5770.

First, I would have to say that my personal minimum for NS2 would be the 5770, not the X800. It's extremely annoying that UWE have posted this because people with lower end hardware will see those requirements, buy the game, and then proceed to have a horrible experience, never to play it again. /rant

Next, let's look at your CPU: that cpu would probably handle the game decently... in high performance mode of course while plugged in. I've seen people with cpus half as powerful as that handle the game at a rate which I would consider enjoyable.

Finally, let's look at your gpu again comparing it to a desktop equivalent using the toms hardware chart. www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

GT 650m is equivalent to... it's not listed,so I'll head over to notebookcheck to find an older model mobile chip equivalent... good news, it's kepler based and not a renamed fermi(don't worry). http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-650M.71887.0.html

Aparently it does well in direct x 11, ns2 is dx9... at it's clock rate of 850mhz on both the core and the ram it performs quite well. If your laptop has underclocked this for any reason you might need to fumble around with unsigned drivers and overclock(lol, overclocking the underclock to normal clocks) it to get nice performance.

So after reading all that, I think you will be able to run the game at an okay level, but I don't think it'll be straight forward.

In conclusion: give it a go, get the game, turn some settings down and try overclocking if you run into issues.

If you need any help recombobulating your computer in any way, just reply in this thread and I'll try to help out.

Settings to play the game at on your system would probably be:

    Vsync: Off
    Anti Aliasing: Off
    Ambient Occlusion: Off
    Texture Streaming: Off
    Texture detail: High
    Particles: Low
    Decals: Low or Off
    Anisotropic Filtering: Medium
    Multi Core rendering: On
    Atmospherics: On
    Reflections: On
    Resolution: 1280x720 (720p)

I would guess this would give you at least 30fps, I can't guarantee higher but I'm hoping you'll get between 40 and 60. I have seen the 650M playing battlefield 3 on medium at nice rates (can't remember the resolution), but that's a direct x 11 game that actually took advantage of directcompute (dx 11 feature) to boost performance.

Just keep in mind your computer is not optimal for NS2 and you may run into issues, but at $25(for the game) it's not exactly terrible and you can always build or buy another computer (and probably will) in the future and NS2 will likely still be around then due to the fact that they are really supporting this game with frequent updates and events (NSL Competition for example).

Oh, NS2 is on sale at the moment for $12.50... grab it now and see how you go. Remember to ask here in this thread if you have any problems and I'll do my best to help, as probably others on the forum will too.

    Enjoy.

IronSoul. If there was a chance that a small meteorite composed only for diamond would crash in your front lawn for you to claim and bless yourself with it's divine monetary value, I do wish it would happen because my 22 years as a human being that is just the epitome of the most informative replies ever seem.

Because of that I'm confident enough to try the game, although it'll be my first time again to play this on my laptop screen(I play left for dead 2 and killing floor on my tv). Thank you very much again for the well informed reply.
