Before you start flaming me, just hear me out...
I know its been mentioned a lot before and that the team is only working little by little on content and will prolly never get to this...
I believe the time is now to start working on lowering the preformance or optimizing the settings on NS2 bigtime...

The graphics are being built from the ground up...so cut yourselves some slack and don't work so hard for those rediculously good looking BF3 graphics...Its about gameplay not scenary.
Most people are always getting fps problems before and after gorgeous update, I for one use to get around 40FPS when the beta first came out, I was running on 1280x720 without any dips...
NOW
I'm running 800x900 with everything turned OFF
EVERYTHING , that is rediculous downgrade ... I use to be able to run
720p with half the settings on and normal/high
now everythings low/off and I barely get 30fps with 800x900
All I'm saying is...the engine for NS2 needs to be redone asap.

*EDIT* I fixed my settings using nvidia inspector in my other thread and now I'm getting about 35fps ingame 720p and about 60+ on 800x900 everything high

~Sincerely a Dedicated NS player & Veteran

The FPS issues are not coming from the graphics side of the engine, unless you are severely GPU bottlenecked. It is caused by the game lua<-->C++ communication of the engine. Rest assured though, performance and compatibility is always being worked on. PC game development is quite complex, with all those different systems out there.

Also mind posting your specs so we an make an "educated guess" as to what might be causing the FPS drop?

That's a mobile computer, and an older one at that. I would go into a rant about how low end your computer is these days but that would be rude, this is rude enough as it is.

My i7 3610QM and GT 630M struggles to get 40fps at 1024x768 on low. I play ns2 on a desktop though.

Ye, your biggest issue is the M at the end of your CPU. Laptops don't take kindly to LUA.

Just played a game at 1280x720 the settings you specified, I'm getting around about 40fps in the menu, 70fps in the ready room, 60fps early game, 50fps mid game, and 35fps late game.

I have an MSI GE60 Laptop and it plays NS2 fine.
At 1280x720, I get 60-70 fps normally, and at least 50 fps in a fight.

Although I still think you guys should get a REAL COMPUTER. NS2 is just so much more enjoyable on a desktop with a good cpu and a good gpu... and a good keyboard and a good mouse and a good monitor. Laptops simply cannot offer this.

I use my laptop for CS: GO and for research and for learning.

Well if you need any advice on not wasting your money, just ask me.

Since Build 244, I've been having superb performance in NS2, fps itself hasn't gone up significantly, but input lag is unnoticable now (and I'm very sensitive to mouse input lag).

NS2 is one of those exception games, where I would recommend a higher end computer for gaming. In a similar way ARMA 3 is also an exception game (Although that's another matter entirely).

One more thing, what a buttface kid.

If I only had a grand or two to spend freely :( This game does benefit from a good mouse in particular I've found, just like NS1 did.
