Why can't skulks climb on the CC?

I don't see the point of this change, especially since the CC still has a crappy collision box.

I dunno I guess it's to stop a single skulk taking down a CC when there are 3 marines there defending, I've done that myself once or twice.
Apart form that I have no idea why it changed.

Yea I think it's to help marines and the marine commander cope with single skulks harassing the CC, though I really don't know why they perceive it to be a problem in the first place.

The change really makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeh it's pretty annoying as skulk I must say. Wish it would be put back the old way. I've rarely seen a single skulk get away with much vs a command chair.

You can still drop on it from the ceiling.

was the collision a bit 'funny' when the chair opened up maybe?

i don't see how it could make the command station more difficult to harrass, just because you can no longer stand a couple of inches off the floor.

there's obviously a reason for the change of which we're unaware.

    1) Marines can climb to the roof of the CC.
    2) Commander can logout from CC.

I mean that the collision has the corners that stick out so you can't circle strafe it well. It should just be a cube.

It would be sad if they changed it because some marines find it difficult to aim. Surely it's just another wall. Maybe we should remove all wall walking. And those skulks on ceilings are hard to aim at...Ceilings have got to go.

I'm going to say that it's because I used to use it as a cubical death rodeo. Get them to chase you around it, jump over the top behind them, kill, rinse, repeat.

    Those were the days.

Killing a cc as a solo skulk while you were able to walk over the CC was fun but also fairly easy.
massively cruel with celerity and regen. Just run run run in all directions like a mad skulk, and keep biting. Hell, walljump a bit while you are at it to gain even more speed.
I had whole marine teams (small teams) empty clips at me before they got me.
I saw marines get grenades & turrets to stop me from rushing.

it is harder now. Still very doable but harder. In fairness, it is better now.

Not being able to climb on structures feels bad. Not a fan of this change, regardless of the justification.

I've become stuck in the floor/cc due to being on the sides of the CC while it's opening. It's probably to prevent that.

i am still able to climb on structures...

Not a fan of the change for the simple reason that there is no visual aid telling the player that this is a "lubricated, teflon, non-climbable surface".
So you get a marine shooting you, you wanna escape via the top, and you can't.. You don't know why, but you're dead.
It breaks immersion (in the sense that it seems to be something you should be able to do, but you can't).

Because ns2 needed to fulfill its monthly quota of unnecessary sub-rules.

Seriously though, the real reason i guess was to prevent people from too easily gorge egging on the CC. It's really humiliating to the marine team when that happens, and bullying just isn't on. NS2 clearly has zero tolerance for troll mechanics.

Electrify was too OP so they went with this route instead for the time being

Cause it was annoying as fuck and not fun for anyone but the skulk doing it. Although getting stuck under the chair is not much fun either.

You can still climb buildings, only the CC is climb proof.

I haven't had any trouble shooting skulks around the CC since beta. Back then it was terrible since the hitboxes were all over the place when the skulk was climbing it, but now it's fine.

Well i could post about the exploits that are possible by using the cc wallwalking, where you get inside the base of the CC and are unkillable, but I think thats better left unsaid. Main point being a skulk that flips his model around while rotating around the closed CC was way more difficult to kill than needed. TBH there really isnt a reason for skulks being able to climb marine structures (atleast most of them, it plain looks retarded seeing a skulk climb a phasegate with 1 foot touching it).

There was a problem with being able to sandwich a skulk under an unfolding CC if they were climbing on it (and was a lot easier to do than it sounds as it happened a few times in a row). As far as I understand it the current change is a temporary fix until something better is figured out.

Not ideal and pretty annoying but considering how easy it was for the comm to hop out and create a skulk prison it's what we've got for the time being.

Edit: also, for the record, as far as I know this is an issue that popped up internally before someone yells at me for never having seen this in a public game before the patch.

Not sure this is really a problem. Just a option for dealing with a skulk climbing on the chair.

The issue was essentially that if someone was biting the chair all you had to do was get out and you could kill him for free rather than the skulk having a chance at killing the commander.
