Shouldn't the pistol draw be faster than the primary?

What's the point of a sidearm if it doesn't really compliment your loadout? Should the draw be faster than your primary? I often find myself regretting that I pulled out the pistol and should have just reloaded my primary while skulks bite my toes off.

If nothing else, why do we rack the slide / charge the weapon every time we draw it? After the first time you're just expelling good ammunition. Shouldn't it be loaded and ready for deployment with a round in the chamber?

They should add a trick where you can instantly draw the pistol if you throw your primary on the ground.

since the pistol is harder to hit with and has less shots, faster draw would be nice.

Yeah, but pistol is strong. Need a trade-off. Dropping the main weapon for a faster draw seems appropriate.

The pistol out damages the rifle early game, has more accuracy, and a faster reload speed. Once you have unloaded your main weapon it is almost always better pull out the pistol and get the last few shots in rather than reloading. You are capable of switching to the pistol and unloading a full magazine in the time it took to reload the rifle (roughly). In addition the pistol is excellent for killing fleeing enemies. Furthermore it gives greater range to a marine with a shotgun, or allows marines with gls to deal with close enemies. The pistol definitely has a place among the marine arsenal.
