They can happen during a fight, in ready room - completely random. Screen freezes, sound loops and I get the bug report that I cannot use because the freezed game messes up everything so I can't send you the report.
Is this known?
Happens to me as well. Pretty uncommon though, I can play days with no freeze at all, and once randomly (mainly when screen graphics are heavily loaded with tons of people to display) freezes.
My game has been freezing then goes into a black screen since these two last patches. Already tried clearing NS2 cache, reinstalling the game and format the machine. Nothing fixed so far.
It happens between 1-5 minutes ingame, totally unplayable. Is this a known bug?
None of you have disabled your page file have you? If not, is it the proper size? You're supposed to set aside 1.5 x the amount of RAM you have. The reason I ask is because it sounds like you're running out of memory and then crashing.
Another thing you can do is to make sure all of your drivers are updated.
Having the same problem here, every few minutes i get a .5-2 second freeze which is disastrous when your trying to actually kill anything. After a dozen or so of those the game freezes permanently.
Im running 12gb of ddr3 ram, a gtx 580, i7920, and i of course have my pagefile enabled. When im playing the game im usually at around 7gb of ram with all my other stuff open (browsers, chat programs, assorted random crap)
I've noticed it's happened to me more frequently when I first select a team and the spectator camera places me "out of bounds" of the map. I'll see the skybox in the background and it'll just freeze up on me with the sound looping until I do a hard reboot.
This usually only happens when the spectator camera places my view out of the map's bounds in the first second or two of joining a team.
Played tonight and this happened 5 times within an hour. I sent in 3 log reports, and saved a 4th to my desktop. Was also crashing last night a ton which I have 2 logs for.
Used to be just when I was in an EXO, now happens anywhere. Sometimes I am kicked back to the title screen with the error "Invalid Data"
Im not getting a crash during game play, the game completely freezes up when i try to change my audio input from speakers to headphone for some reason....

Let me know if your QA guys want the logs.
Yes please!
Everyone refer to the stickied posts for instructions on how to provide your ns2 log files here, curious if theres any errors.
Next time you send a log report from crashing regarding this issue, PM me your email and that log can be picked out of the bunch.

Looks like we just upload somewhere and paste a link here? I was unable to find any sticky topic specifically describing how you guys want logs sent to you.

From the stickied known issues thread:
Please provide UWE with information, do the following (ripped from here):
Attach or post a DXDIAG information log file, this provides UWE with your system specs, driver and OS info:
Click on your Windows Desktop Start menu.
In winXP you want to find "RUN", in Vista/7 you want the search bar at the bottom of the menu.
Type in DXDIAG and hit Enter
A window pops up, Either a Diagnostic will auto run or you need to click on a button: Run DxDiag now ~something similar to that.
When the progress bar is done, Click on the "Save All Information" button, you can either copy paste it to the forums or post it into a website such as http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here on the forums.
Attach or post the contents of the NS2 "log.txt" file, this contains useful error messages for the UWE devs:
To get to the file, press windows key + R, fill in "%appdata%\Natural Selection 2", hit enter.

Ok remotely similar to what's reported here I have issues as well since the latest big patch:
I start the game connect to a server, load successfully and when I join a team everthing freezes. Checking the game cache worked last time but since it takes about 20 minutes for me to start the game, join a server crash, restart, check the cache and then hope it's working, I figured I'd post here. Especially since I can't submit an error report because everything freezes.
So you computer wizards, please do your magic!
Thank you. Also thank you that it has worked up to now. Was fun.
I attached three log files and dxdiag. Just as a FYI, I have since updated to the latest Nvidia driver, I was using the one from the beginning of December prior (9.18.13.1070) when the three logs were generated
My name is Gabriel Faria Campos (*Pumpkin Golem) Ive always been a big fan os ns, i even bought the alpha! But lately Ive been experiencing a periodic freezing (every 5 to 10 min) due to loss of connection, it goes yelow and then red for like 30 seconds and then it comes back to normal , and Ive also notice it happens with lots of other players since 238 (its in the foruns) and nothing has been done.....I really want to play the game but its been a long time, and the game is unplayable for us since 238. Hope u can fix it soon...
I dont know if it helps but when it happens after the 30 seconds freezing the ping goes to 999 but i can still see other player moving with no lag and even hit them.....but nothing else appears....its all delayed ....then all of a sudden i hear music and the screen fills up with the kills and the upgrades that didnt appear before... hope it helps!
I found out what caused MY crashes - cpu overclock (by 200Mhz). Is this a joke? I can't even overclock my cpu to get better fps in ns 2? Other games work just fine.
It's probably cause other games don't stress your CPU enought. They kick it on 80% and CPU dosen't "overheat". That's why peapole use software like prime95 or Orthos to test CPU. Maybe you will need to boost CPU core voltage to get it stable.

Run prime 95 for six hours with that over clock before you write it off as the game's fault. @op: watching and recording what net_stats 1 entered in the console reports while you experience this would be very helpful. Along with dxdiag, and your network configuration. (Router? Etc etc)

also as a side note.
having the page file as 1.5x the size of your physical memory is not a correct rule. The correct answer is "your memory usage at its utmost peak + some margin".
Now I know noone ever believes a random comment, so read the following blogposts. (he links through them all). Thats A MS devs blogpost. Enjoy.

It's been reported multiple times by different people, make sure you submit the crash report if you get the dialogue box.
