Game won't launch

I've been trying to play NS2 again, but Steam won't launch it. Initially, it would launch, but only go to a black screen. So I uninstalled the game, and reinstalled. Now when I click on play, it says it's launching NS2 for 2 seconds, then goes away. Nothing actually launches and I go back to the steam library. Please help.

Two things to look at for now. Verify the integrity of the game cache files. If you use mumble, make sure you have the game overlay plugin disabled.

Ah, it was the overlay for TS3, thanks. It used to work with the game, but guess no more.
