Lend me your eyeballs!
The last few months I've been building a game in my spare time - there's a long way to go yet, but there's enough to show some, and I'd really like to get some opinions, assuming your criticism is constructive :)

I'll give you some words, a video and a website, hopefully you'll tell me what you think:

OreSome is a 2D strategy game about ore – exploring space for it, fighting aliens for it, blowing up planets with it. Build a network of frames and bots to defeat your enemies – or just throw a sun at them. In a dying, decrepit universe full of foes, build up your forces and mine your way to the top of the food chain to explore further and further out into the void.

By the time you’re ready, you’ll be powering light speed jump drives with stars, building Death Star style super weapons with black holes and in charge of the largest scale mining operation ever known to man – all working for one of humanity’s least scrupulous corporations – and there’s a lot of competition.

I am going to be honest, that first video didn't really get me interested. It was kind of all over the place and didn't explain much. Once I went to the blog and watched/read more it sounds like a very cool idea. Building space stations that can be ships piece by piece and flying them around? Using planets as energy? Throwing planets at enemies? If you're looking for an easy way to get people interested, that is the kind of stuff you want to show off.

This is definitely something I will want to keep my eye on now, thanks.

Perhaps I did bury the lead - I could do with making a sizzle reel of sorts. I'm glad I managed to get your interest in the end though - always nice to have someone confirm what you're doing is on the right lines.

Back for round two, and I come bearing a couple of teaser trailers. They're not professional grade, but I think they're workable for now.

Enjoy, and do your worst :)

Looking good still! Wish I had some advice to get you some help but sadly I am useless in that area. Keep us up to date on this though.

Things are picking up steam. New, better trailer:

Finally and perhaps most importantly, I'm putting online the ship builder at the end of the week for people to download and play around with.

Will be fun to try out the ship builder. And even better to see you getting some press finally. I am sure it makes continuing the work much easier.

Shipyard Mode's up here Only the sendspace link works currently - IndieDB's awaiting authorisation, but that'll be up in a few hours too. It's still pretty rough currently, so be nice! I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on it though.

Necromancing this thread for a status update request. How's it progressing?

Looks a bit unpolished, but overall I'd have to say I'm exited. Looks oremazing.

Come on. Oregasmic was right there, and you missed it.

Love the little X3 homage with the trailer naming.

    Looks very promising.

Wow, sorry I missed that thread resurrection - things have indeed been progressing.

In fact, if anyone's still interested, the game's up for Alpha Funding on Desura!

Things have come on a long way, though there's still a bunch of bugs and such to be squashed. The campaign is available in rough form (early missions only) and a good few features and control system improvements have been added.

Enjoy, if you like - I'll be glad to hear of whatever you think, as long as it's constructive

Bug reports would be particularly useful, with any detail that can be provided.

This actually looks really good. Seems like exactly the sort of thing I'd like.

The idea seems pretty awesome to me.

Glad to hear it - there's been about 5 patches since, so it's a good thing someone appreciates it :)

Again with the long time between updates, but there's a couple of big things afoot. First, OreSome's Alpha is available on GamersGate now too as well as Desura

Also, the latest versions now have a vestigial multiplayer, which hopefully will grow into something full featured (and more stable) before too long.

As always, vote up on Steam Greenlight if you're interested!
