Are Alien Bites RNG?

Question & Suggestion
Hello, I'm an old NS1 player and lately I just can't figure out why sometimes when you bite a marine you do -25 dmg sometimes and -75. Is this the use of RNG, I've asked a few people and they tell me the legs make you only do -25 dmg. I've drop from the ceiling and have bitten people for -25 in the neck shoulder area. I'm wondering if anyone has a more detailed reasoning for this.
One possible theory I haven't really got to test much is maybe you have to be perfectly center on the marine for a -75 dmg bite? Not sure. Or is it just RNG

Afaik you can bite on legs for 75 too.
@reekah rng means random number generator
Which, on most servers, is a legitimate reason.
each bite cone does 25 damage and you need to land all 3 to get the full 75 dmg bite
The outer cone is large and wide
The middle cone is smaller and narrower
The inner cone is even smaller and you have to have the marine dead center of your screen
Yes, you can test this by slowly moving away from the extractor as you bite.
There are some crosshair mods on the workshop that have one. I'm not a fan of a melee crosshair and don't need one, also the reason my workshop mods don't have one :P
For all intents and purposes, yes, the damage is random. Not because its randomly generated, it obviously isn't as you have read in this thread. The thing is, because the bite is determined by a collision between two world objects, the outcome has almost nothing to do with what you see on your screen. Collisions between two hitboxes are notoriously hard to calculate fairly for both parties, and even harder (it basically can't be done in this situation) to calculate accurately to within a 10-15 degree arc for determining glancing or non glancing bites.
So basically no, it isn't RNG, but it might as well be, so don't beat yourself up about it or try get "more accurate".
I get that you were bringing up another topic you felt was random, ( One I agree on) but for the sake of clarity for others, third person animations will not affect the bite cone. you could in fact have no skulk animations and the bite cone would behave the same.
Also, I have not seen any videos of the bite cone missing, despite the complicated networking hurdles?

it's common to have a normal bite become a glancing bite or for a glancing bite to miss entirely

I see nothing wrong with that first one, you triggered the bite completely off target and too far away. The second one (first -75) however is odd, because you were so close you actually bit behind him, not on target. the other two seem fine though... But this does show there is a small issue, you just highlighted the wrong one and without any net_stats info it doesn't show us much :(
Looking at it again, the second -75 should perhaps be a -50 with the target being to the side of center bite cone...
test the 25 damage cone it's quite wide, I posted comparison screenshots the first time I posted this video here
