Need A Mapper For Map Idea - Prize Included
I would like help from a mapper to create a map idea of mine (although it's sort of a re-creation anyways).
First, let's start with the prize I was talking about. I don't believe in work without compensation, so I am going to throw in a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 to whoever decides to take up the challenge. Now, I consider it a requirement for the person who accepts the offer and installs the game to go from beginning to completion for this map, so please don't just run-off after receiving the game. I am also very fair, I will not rush you or anything: I'm not going to ask that it be finished next week. I've tried mapping for myself and I KNOW that it's a very long, tedious, difficult, painful, etc. process, so I'm completely understanding of the task. I just want the person to have some little progress at a reliable rate, like a small portion a week. Lastly, there's a reason for the copy of Left 4 Dead 2; we will be using the game to closely examine the map I want to re-create.
As for what map it is, the map is Helm's Deep. We will be using the game to run this map and we'll examine the map for the mapping process. I'm planning on creating a mod using the map, which can be found here: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=125612. The hardest part of the mod though, is the mapping, so that's why I need a mapper. I personally don't feel like that map would be too hard to make, since it's mostly mountains and flatland, however, the hardest part is inside Helm's Deep itself, so be prepared for that.
Lastly, I would like some experienced mappers who have something to show that they're good. I also will look into your reputation and see if you're just some random guy or a very strong member of the community. I'm not planning to be a slave driver or anything, but I'm looking for quality work and a trustworthy person. Please post here or PM me if you have a mapping itch you want to scratch (and you want L4D2 :P).
P.S. Here's a video you can watch to see the map's entirety so that you can see whether you can make the map or not.

I understand the appeal of a mod defending something like Helms Deep but you will have trouble finding someone who wants to work on something like this. It's difficult and not exactly original.
I've given this 5 minutes thought but the defense idea of yours could be so much better translated to NS2 universe.
Think, Starship Troopers.
A small marine base, walled/defended including some bunkers etc. The landscape around the base should include plenty of underground alcoves, nooks, caves etc, not just flat open areas such as l4d2 style mopping. Plenty of cover for smaller aliens to navigate around.
Plan some gameplay/tiers/objectives. Larger caves could spawn a hive, different spot each time. Perhaps the aliens can earn points towards growing another hive slash evolve into newer life forms. Marines may have to wait 5 minutes each time for a new upgrade or something. The aliens could possibly slow this time by attacking communications buildings, Knocking out power which may open doors. Using ONOS to barge them down.
You know what I'm getting at.
Plenty of cool Alien/Marines things can be done. Give it a quick think and you could be onto something exciting that people will be more willing to contribute toward.
:)
This is a nice idea to consider after making this first initial map. I decided to go with this theme because I've had a ton of fun with the L4D2 Helm's Deep Reborn map and hope to transfer that experience to the NS2 world. I am also aware that the idea isn't original, which can be noticed when I say it's a re-creation twice in the original post, however, I still think this will be a fun idea and we don't know the outcome until we put it out there for a test run. Hopefully, someone can share the enthusiasm of creating a LotR map in the NS2 universe!
its not exactly what you need i know, but i think you will be able to use to it test your mod concept.
