<div class="IPBDescription">Sergeant, medic, greasemoneky</div>So, here's a thought... just to keep it interesting.
The commander can bestow <b>1</b> field-upgrade on <b>one</b> player (reverts back to commander if player leaves game or goes into Exo but not on death) until he removes it and gives it to someone more deserving ("<i>You are in charge until you die or I find someone better</i>"). A player can of course deny the honor and privilege... (the "Just say No!"-button).
For each captured techpoint (ie built CC) the rine com unlocks and selects one of these special abilities, very much like Aliens do for each hive. If the CC is down the upgrade is lost to be regained if the point is recaptured. So with tree CC's the rines can have three players, each with <b>one</b> of the following special abilities:
<b>Sergeant:</b> This player is a beacon for the others to follow, you can see him through walls and he is marked in the HUD, nice for pub games. He also give a 5% boost in armor and firepower to all rines within radius X, perhaps even slightly faster movement and reloading (<i>Quit yer yappin and get'em rifles snappin!</i>). The sergeant is there to affect combat.
<b>Medic:</b> This player gets the mother of all auto-injectors, moving up to a player and needling them he can heal a rine back to full in one go. The injector need to recharge after each use for 8 seconds. He has an experimental built in nano-pack which heals him 10% every 3 seconds to be able to help his friends in battle. The medic is on site to keep rines in the fight when the commander is otherwise occupied.
<b>Greasemonkey: </b>Basically an engineer with a very advanced welder. Any building he's working on goes up 20% faster (each marine working on it gets this bonus).
The marines don't have to research welders for this role to be active. The greasemonkey can repair twice as fast as a regular welder and if he "welds" an upgrading building it gets a 10% time boost. The engineer is there to build and maintain the bases.
Each of these specialists gets a 10% boost in personal res-income, as a "thank you". And of course there's the glory!
Come on now, that is bloody brilliant!
Not too OP, just to make it fun..ner...

Not to mention the medic would be encroaching on commander territory (in-the-field healing).
The idea is fine, I just don't like it for NS2 personally :p
Edit: I spell like a monkey with gruel-for-brains.
Yeah, the idea was for the medic to get some of the strain off the com.
Commanding aliens is relaxing in comparison to rine com. Personally I'd settle for the sergeant.
"Jus' to give em buggers some hoope"
While I like this idea, these roles do not feel very rewarding except for the sergeant.Greesemonkey for example turns marine into ethernal builder/fixer and that is not the most fun thing to do.Personally I enjoy support roles and helping people out sacrificing some killing fun for myself, but that cant be applied to everyone.
