Why do threads get locked for no reason?

I just had a thread I started locked for no reason apart from the fact the mod (zaggy) did not like it? It's not your choice what we talk about in the community? I feel this is unfair, how do you report a mod? Or is this reporting them now?

Ooops forgot to post the thread - http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=125987

me also. hidden agenda of ns forums. I just want an answer for locking someone just because it wasn't a mods interest, seems like they don't listen to the community, they just lock it.

    >this thread is complaining about a thread that was locked for complaining about threads that were locked for complaining about the game.

    This is getting deep.

Because it is absolutly pointless to argue wheter the game was ready for release or not. The mod might get as tired of them as I am. There was even a thread calling for "unreleasing" the game. I can't say I'm happy with the way ns2 is right now but complaining alone wont get you anywhere. All you do is spread negative attitude.

Mods choose arbitrarily what we're allowed to speak about.

And you're not allowed to criticize the mods publicly, you might receive a warning for this.

Will be fun if I do get a ... shock horror warning... I'll probably just link this to the mod that delivered the message http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Totalitarianism

And it's called asking other people's opinions bertor, I play ns2 in ns2 i don't ask about the game. I come to the forum to ask people and talk about the game, the ins the outs, if threads are locked, how can opinions and discussions start? seems like all this forum is about is asking people to help contribute ideas to the game or talk about the competitive community.. just a horrible atmosphere to enforce on a community

Well, I can't agree with you because I already received a warning, sorry.

Shock, a forum with a thread about over moderation!

When you play in someone else's backyard, play by their rules or leave :p

I guess you have no idea what totaltarianism is. Saying that the game should not have been released is actually quite rude towards the devs. You are being a ###### here. FYI, in a totalitarian forum, you would not even be able to make a post, at least not before some mod proofread it first.
Moreover a forum never was a democracy. The admins/mods/owners decide the topics and the rules. You have freedom of speech, the admins have the freedom to delete/lock/ban you.

What exactly were you trying to accomplish with that thread? Honestly, it looked like a troll. The same topic has been discussed on & off for the past year. UWE owned the business decision on when to release. Looking back on it & debating it doesnt really get the game anywhere.

there are *plenty* of threads that are critical of performance, gameplay, etc. that don't get locked unless they degenerate in to bashing of other forum members or devs.

My guess is the lock was to prevent the inevitable with the thread you posted.

The mods are trying to keep things civil, not stifle debate

    Comedy.

Your initial post was a complaint about moderation. That is an express train to being locked on ANY forum.

This thread is a complaint about moderation as well.

This forum is not a public place, it is private. As such the owners are free to restrict conversation in anyway they choose.

I expect this thread will be locked as well.

As pointed out, locking threads is up to our (the mods) discretion.
    We do get to decide.
Again, help UWE, don't simply complain endlessly, these aren't the bnet forums.
edit: There is a Report button on every post: , use this for reporting spam, flaming, mods or anything of relevance.

    **locked**
