1) A cyst has alot less HP than a powernode and by killing it you can neutralise a large chunk of alien buildings and resources 2) Marines should be more mobile than the most mobile class? Ok... 3) Aliens dont have medpacks or nanoshield, nor do they get +30% damage passively... 4) And a lerk sitting in the right place is making a concerted effort to hurt the power node...
The real problem is the map, not the weapon. Docking is a poorly-designed map for multiple reasons. One of which is the Power Node being visible through that window (I have nothing against the window itself) and the possibility of the first Alien Hive being Departures. Don't extrapolate bad map design to being bad gameplay balance.

Yes but if you've tried this as a lerk, you'll realize that it takes a very long time to actually take out the power node. If I can sit there for 5 mins and take out the PN without the marines noticing, then that is their fault. If they notice, usually a welder or mac is enough to make this futile.
