Planetside 2 NS2 outfit
Well me, blink, 1337, o0ber and master blaster play PS2 and i'm sure more of you do. We should make an outfit or something on the same server. Right now we seem to be gathered on US East Waterson server on the Vanu side. Anyone else play? Hit us up if you do my name there is archim3d3s

We're on Vanu Sov. Find me as 'Michus' in game to get an invite.
hehe add me!!!!
And yea the games can be slightly graphic intensive but NS2 improved like amazingly for me when I had a chance to get an i5 ivy with a new mobo. Since it's black friday i'd suggest keeping your eyes peeled if you have a few extra bucks.
well you us westers need to come east >> haha :D any ideas for outfit names? i know there's more on
Took me about 2 days to fully get what is going on in the game. If it's laggy (people teleporting) just quit or switch servers. The game is no fun with lag, but massive fun without.
So here are a couple of starter tips:
Certifications and Equip:
Every class and vehicle has certifications. You earn these by gaining XP. If you have enough certs you can unlock something. Let's take light assault as an example.

You can see, he has several slots: 1 primary weapon, 1 secondary weapon, 1 ability, 1 suit, 1 greanade, 1 melee (middle mouse button) and 1 general, used for med kits and such.
If you unlock a certification, YOU HAVE TO EQUIP IT. So only spend certs on things that you want! In case of the suit slot lets say you get the one that gives you more health. Unlock it, go to an equip station, equip the upgrade in the slot and hit "equip now".
Same thing for vehicles.
How to level up fast in Planetside 2: Get the sunderer advanced mobile station certification, equip the AMS in your utility slot. Spawn a sunderer, drive it to the nearest battlefield, find a close but safe spot. Deploy pressing B. Profit. If you can get it inside a base safely do that instead. Double profit.

If you want to read more about it I found this really nice guide.
I just started busting out laughing hardcore at work after seeing your sig and avatar.
I prefer the full thing.

After the third TK before leaving my base (including getting run over by a magrider/tank), finally got outside. Only to immediately run into a Terran, and find out that a (very) short burst with a LMG is a near one-shot-kill.
Short version, they made the game incredibly slow except for combat, which is short and unengaging, turning into a game of 'who shot first' more than anything else.
Visual design has been screwed over, with VS and NC almost indistinguishable to anyone with even mild color blindness. Not as bad in the original as NC had a LOT more yellow in their armor and vehicles. Seriously? Dark blue and dark purple? Who's the IDIOT who made THAT decision?
Gave it a good six hours, then uninstalled. No intention of returning, and I was a big PS player back in the pay-days.
Disappointment is an understatement. I'm almost outright offended with how badly mismanaged PS2 turned out.
I love the cocky Reaver pilots in Connery for that same reason. Either my Dual Burster Max or Skyguard, they seem to just sit there while I eat their HP bars.
I've been having more luck dogfighting since I picked up the (relatively cheap 30 or 50 cert) flares for my scythe. It's a 40 second recharge timer yes, but being able to pop flares gives you time to turn around and locate whatever ****ing mosquito is trying to pop you and get on his ass never to let him get a lock again. A2A missiles are rubbish in a dogfight, you just gotta get on their ass or bail back to friendly territory ASAP, you have to pick one of the two options or you'll definitely die.
*edit*
I've also rebound my flight controls. I cleared the bindings for Q and E (VERY IMPORTANT TO CLEAR THE BINDINGS FOR E) and assigned them to roll left and right respectively. Makes it fairly easy to juke and get the best positioning in a dogfight. If you forget to clear all the bindings for E before you re-assign them you might accidentally bail from a moving aircraft when you wanted to roll. :)
While the game was very frustrating to me the first couple days. I've found a lot more enjoyment in it now that I've slowed down and started to be more cautious.
-Don't take a ground vehicle somewhere that a different faction has massive air superiority
-When piloting air vehicles. Get to 1km height and do a slow descent into your target area. The height offers both a bit of cover as people rarely look straight up, and it also provides the best possible acceleration if something goes sideways.
-Learn to pilot outside of combat for at least an hour. The cooldown timer will ruin your practice if you get shot.
-When using a vehicle, always take the engineer loadout first. You'll need to repair often.
-Sniper infiltrator is incredibly boring. It takes forever to get in position and usually there's either 4 other snipers in position or there are no infantry visible.
-Medics can get quite a bit of XP for reviving your own dudes at choke points. If you're going into a meat grinder, go medic
-Engineers have a deployable sentry by default. It's slot 4 or 5. Took me forever to figure that one out.
-If you don't understand why someone has much better weapons than you. Assume they paid real dollars for them.
-For the love of god, remember to equip your upgrades. I still keep forgetting.
NC "DirkSwizzler" on Connery.

I killed you the other day on Indar, you went pop just like a Smurf should :P

You can repair MAXes, vehicles, turrets. You can drop ammo on a very short cooldown, which is a lot of XP in a meatgrinder fight. And you can construct turrets in a jiffy, which tear other infantry up.

Another odd class that is ridiculously strong is the Medic. If you got the Alpha Dawg pack that free gun for the Medic is just crazy good.
I still get tunnel vision sometimes when I see the smoke coming out of those helpless liberators.
Finally got my lifetime K/D ratio above 1.0 yesterday. Reaver rocket pod + infrared optics + lone enemy sunderer = 3-4 infantry kills per volley. Hilarity ensues.
Hell, even the default gun is good. At least for the TR. The Cycler definitely outperforms the engineer/light assault's carbine. It's especially lethal at range.
Speaking of the Cycler, SOE seems to have done a much better job of balancing the infantry weapons this time around. In PS1, the NC had a clear advantage in medium assault weapons with the Gauss rifle. The Cycler and Pulsar never quite measured up.
The tanks also seem well balanced. The Vanguard's main gun is still terrifying, but I imagine that the Prowler's one-two punch has the same effect on the enemy. I mentally still classify Magriders as victims, but their performance belies that.
I don't know why anyone would drive a "ground pounder" Lightning, unless they had no other choice. I shelled out the cash to unlock the Skyguard turret, and to me it feels like that is the vehicle's only viable role. Except for ground-to-air, anything a Lightning can do, an MBT can do better.
Peoples first reaction is to go max and charge the turret. Often their armor is enough to get out of sight, but they forget I can just leave the turret at pop a couple of bullets from ma gun.
Rarely do people throw grenades or god forbid change to a heavy.
