Is there a way to bind a key to mute every one?

Sometimes I'm trying to be sneaky and listen before I enter rooms and people happen to be talking. I would love to bind a key so I can quickly mute every one. is this possible? I find it happening more and more lately. So far I've resisted the urge to shush people....

Seems that there isn't so I made the suggestion. Please vote one way or another. - http://goo.gl/mod/2Bxt

I hightly doubt this is possible right now but I would also love to see this implemented.
But there should be some kind of feedback so you know you've muted everyone or else you could accidently go on playing the rest of the game wondering why nobody is talking. :D

I was going to troll you.

But then I read your post and realised that it sounds like a fair enough idea.

Sure thing.

+1 Add it in

You can either put the voice slider in sound to 0
Or.... you can shift tab trololol.

He does not want to mute everyone permanently, and this would not be a quick & easy solution for when he is trying to use it.

I don't support this idea though. Voice comm is so you can be heard. It's also possible to hear "through" the audio chatter if you listen carefully. There's already individual player muting for abusive players.

Anyone supporting the use of extreme tactics should support this. It's why, in real-life field operations, people will call for "Radio silence!" Often, people in combat are required to only hear what's around them, not chatter from command, so it makes sense to stop talking unless something is "mission-critical".

I would love to be able to bind a key to just increase and decrease voice volume. I set my voice volume to be as low as possible and still hear everybody (that way I can hear footsteps on the field more easily without it being drowned out). But then somebody comes on with a lower mic volume and throws everything out. I have to constantly adjust so that the louder mics aren't explosively loud and can still hear the quieter mics. It's especially annoying when commanding, as by the time you get round to changing the voice volume, the guy who's too quiet is usually already raging at you for not responding to his scan/phasegate request. It would be nice to be able to do it in game so that if you hear somebody that's too quiet, you can respond immediately by turning the voice volume up.

Likewise, if you're on the field and all the voices are too loud, and you're trying to listen out for footsteps, you can turn the voice volume way down without going to the menu. Sometimes I just say over the mic "be quiet for a second, I'm being stalked by a skulk", but it would be nice to not have to do that. If you hold tab and try and find the player(s) who's talking and mute them, you can get killed while you're doing that.

//voicetoggle
alias "voicetoggle" "voiceoff"
alias "voiceoff" "voice_scale 0;wait;stopsound;alias voicetoggle voiceon"
alias "voiceon" "voice_scale 1;wait;stopsound;alias voicetoggle voiceoff"
bind "kp_slash" "voicetoggle"

How i miss thee goldsource :<

it would be nice to have this whenever they get around to adding more keybind options.

Exactly...

Sure the comm might be telling me something important but when you are in a combat situation and your failure/success is heavily dependent on the next few moments (measured in seconds in this game) nothing else matters. Despite being able to hear footsteps and things over people talking you STILL miss out on key audible indications the other team or even YOU make. It's the difference between knowing 1 marine walking up on you or 3 marines.

Adding a key bind to mute every one speaking quickly IMO is extremely important; however, it doesn't appear most people agree judging by that poll I did.
