A Win From Reception

<div class="IPBDescription">On hera, of course</div> Most of the time, relocating is a bad idea, but when you only have the cc left, hurry up and throw a firebase in reception.... you CAN win with this strat

The keys to wining from a reception base:
1.)**KEEP THE SECURITY DOORS CLOSED**
2.)Build a ton of turrets, and two siege towers in the back, near the res node
3.)Try not to die alot (If possible, as in no noob rushes at the hive with a knife) since the base is going to be packed full of buildings, there is not alot of room for infiltry portals

LASTLY
4.)Only small attack teams to take out the hives because at this point, you are getting faded to the max from the elevators/vents... a small team with jettys and whatever weapons you can afford should be able to take out a hive or two since most of the aliens would be after your firebase*

I have seen marines WIN with this strat, but it took a while... try it only as a last resort since it is a waste of res as long as you have your original base....

oh, and if they get an onos... pray that you and your turrets can take him or else its game over <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->

**Anyone who was in a game like this, post ideas/strats/ and most importantly BAD IDEAS**

im not going to defend it by saying anything more than ive gotten a win out of it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

yeah, it is... i said its hard, didnt i? but if they have fades and you gotta start over, youve no chance unless you can keep it safe, and reception is alot easier to keep safe than holo... in my opinion atleast...

HMG's and jettys can speed up the process, along with armor upgades...

Also, this is a battle tested plan, it can be done!

You should never get to that level of adversity in Hera. You can lock down Comp and Vent with one siege from the res node outside Comp.
The key is, of course, speed. You cannot turttle at base. Build 2 IP, an armory and an observatory, and a phase gate. Drop mines, and mine the tunnel to reception, the vent by the boxes, and the big door to maintenance access tunnel (close the door over the lasers). Send everyone, but 1 marine to maintenance, through the door, up the right ramp, through the door, and right to the node. Drop a phase gate. Extractor, TF, upgrade, siege, turrets. If you cand hold there untill you can fortify, you've won.
If they started at archiving, don't think for a minute that you've wasted resources. They are stuck with lvl 1-3 aliens, and cannot build another hive untill your siege is gone. The bad news is that you cannot siege archiving. Well, you can, but only from the second floor of archiving propper (passed the doors, in the "creep"). So tech up, get a couple of HMG, 1 GL, and at least 1 welder. Ammo up, and head to the O.K. corral. Game over.
Forget about reception, and double node at the start. You have to get through maintenance BEFORE they drop OCs and bottle you in the dark tunnel. That's a very bad place for marines. Trying to get to Comp Hive through reception, and Holo is too exposed to vent's, rafters and twists, and will give them just enough time to bottle you in.

Yea, there are three maps that has that one-location, two hives in siege range, aka win-locations.

There is no way you can stop a marine rush through maint unless the skill difference is hugely to the aliens advantage.

And adequate defenses can't be built until about five minutes into the game, so here is pretty much a 100% marine win, if the proper strategies are used.

Personally, I belive the siege range must be decreased a bit, so you can't hit vent hive from processing.

Actually, Reception isn't a bad idea. The Fire door on the West Side of Hera Reception is a short jog from Archiving. And if you can slowly start to control Archiving, all you have to do is take the Processing room, and siege both the hives from that location. Easy Peasy. Maybe a Base move right from the beginning wouldn't be a bad idea.

Holoroom would be pretty easy to control, too. I've seen some commanders try to move their base to the holo room, but that didn't work too well at all.

So, you control Reception and Archiving, Secure the Holo Room, then set sieges in Processing. Not too hard at all. Problem being though, if you were trying to relocate the base from the beginning to Reception, that might be difficult unless their main hive is at Ventilation 3C. A skilled marine team could easily accomplish this, but then again, a coordinated skulk rush might keep you out of the Reception area. I don't think I'll ever try this strat in a pub though... probably give me a heart attack. Commanding in a Pub is stressful.

i found this strat on a pub, lol, im still looking for a clan to join

    ANYWAYS:
As i said, last resort... we had only out cc left so he threw alot of res into making a firebase at reception, the fades didnt notice us runing, and we made a nice comeback from it...

like i said, its a last resort, but with a little skill and a little luck, you can come back from the brink

Oh, about getting the double res... dont try to put a base up there, it is to hard to defend... but do TRY to keep those res nodes

And as i said: THEY ARE TO BUSY ATTACKING THE FIREBASE TO CARE ABOUT THE HIVE!!! ive had a single marine take out a hive with a lmg and no support cause they had no def, they were all attacking the base

i have started to get tired of pub servers too.
i hardly find any good comm's, and if i do find one, most of the marines suck.
since i'm a marine guy i take that as an example.. have been alien too with sucky gorges.
can't say i'm a good alien, but if i only get into the game as a alien it work's kinda good.

and it's mostly like that when im' marine too.. well, it depends if the game have been going on for some while or if i join from start.
caus if you join from start you get to practise some shooting at the skulk rushes + you get some controll on what the plan is etc...
if you join in the middle of the game and haven't played for a while the enemie might have fades or atleast some upgrades and you don't know what is going on and how good the enemie is wich can lead to some kills... especially if the comm sends you on a mission alone from the base :/

so anyone know of any nice server i could try to play at???
caus i don't feel i learn so much anymore... since the enemie is at the most time at same level.

not saying that i'm super good or anything.. im' just so sick of pub servers... please god, help me <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Twilight Eclipse, the DAD servers, and Dogpound Gamers are very good and heavily policed servers. If you play on Dogpound, just ignore bAbY_sNiPeS, hes an (_*_).
