I would like to see a mod that focuses on adding more things to the RTS side of the game. Such as more unit types (player units and NPC units), more hard counters, more scouting and planning ahead how you want your team setup, Bigger maps appropriate for this type of gameplay, etc.
I was thinking about making a mod the other day. Rather than having the linear progression skulk>gorge>lerk>fade>onos, it would branch out.
______lerk>fade>onos: attack class skulk< ______gorge>queen/super gorge thing: Builder/healer class
I was thinking the alien team would only get 1 super gorge/queen for the team, and that would negate the need for a formal khamm. This thing would slide around spreading cysts, possibly spawn aliens where it is, put down hives. It would have a huge amount of life, and maybe end the game by killing the queen. I thought it would be cool if you had a sliding base that the marines had to hunt down. It could also be used as a forward base. I have a bunch of little ideas, that I think would be cool, but I don't know. I could use some feedback.
What do you guys think? I would love to work on a mod.
I played NS1 and loved the idea of the aliens not having a commander because they had the hive-mind. I'm taking a light load next semester, and was considering actually putting this into code.

And he can play as a fps unit as well ^_^
I really like the idea of an RTS vs FPS mod, or just a mod that has greater interactivity between the two. Perhaps with more levels of gameplay.
I think it would be cool if you could have a game within a game within a game type fps/rts/rpg mash up. Where getting to the end result becomes complex.
Maybe at times you have to rely on what people tell you on comms.
proper movement mod aka make the game fun mod not NS2:C
remove marine jump restrictions/sprint bhop for all aliens skulk walljump momentum buff proper fade blink bhop aka make blink not sh!t diagonal jetpack movement equalization
Also would like to see classic viewmodel and sound mod to change all of the marine viewmodels and sounds to NS1 ones, while at it have a setting that allows to change the transparency of the viewmodel like in TFC.
Mod that allows a proper in-game lobby system, makes people able to queue up to be commander so that there is no delay in who goes in the chair at the start and that every game starts with a commander.
Custom crosshair mod that allows you to change your crosshairs to your liking with a wide selection of colours and crosshair types.
Start with all tech and structures mod. Don't have to research shiet. Go blow things up.
Grenade mod. Add frag grenades to marines and maybe even C4. Explosions are fun.
No more infestation mod. Goodbye infestation, hello good framerate.
