Anyone else getting a bit bored of NS2...
Apart from scrims/pugs, I literally cannot even play this game anymore. I've clocked up 600 hours in about 4 months and have hit a wall where I just cannot play the same 3-4 maps over and over anymore. The quality of public players is beyond horrible (much worse than in NS1).
Believe it or not, I just want to play combat. I want a game mode where I don't have to worry what everyone else is doing, it lets me keep my aim / movement skill up to scratch and I can play a few 10 minute rounds then leave.
Need new maps soooo badly...

I am really looking forward to door welding and Gorge tunnels, honestly. And Fade improvements.
As for maps, that is something that the community will hopefully take over and UWE will then feature the best creations as official maps while they take more care of actual gameplay.

That might be a good argument.
If the page would load.
I have the same feeling. Regular NS2 games can be stressful. I want to just screw around sometimes and have some laughs.
Then again, I only play a couple hours a day.
The more relevant question is, what game do you find more compelling than NS2? My answer being; none. (I do still play a bit of Quake and Skyrim ewwy day.)

Gathers are kinda pointless too...you wait a while to get it started and then the majority of the people have no basic sense of what they should be doing at any given time

My team is signed up to 2 ladder/leagues, played in a tourney last week and 2 previous tournaments before that. I'm not talking about pugs/scrims... I'm talking about what you do 99% of the other time when you're not scrimming.
I'm sure the Australasia competitive scene will get better so that you can scrim more often, and therefore have more fun.
Unfortunately, in order for the scene to grow people need to keep having fun on pubs. I know a few old ns1 players who just returned to the game since ns2 release, who have subsequently gotten bored. Ignored outstanding balance issues need to be addressed (e.g. how long do we have to wait for fade to get buffed back into relevance?) and more maps need to be finished and included in the rotation. Even people who have only played since release are already bored of the limited map rotation.
Perhaps a more organized and regular PUG scene down under would help things a little too. ENSL pugs only really cater to American and European players don't they? (the only servers there seem to be USA/EUR)
I stopped playing at all. I had 200 hours in beta for a year and I really enjoyed the game, or, maybe I enjoyed playing with people? I think that is right.
I live in Asia, now I must say there are ZERO pub servers where I can enjoy the game. People even dont have MICS! They tell me (HELLO SINGAPORE) that this game needs no mics. Comms dont even command, they just drop structures and thats it. There is no organized gameplay at all. Everyone just runs and shoots. And when I told them about it - I WAS WARNED by the admin and poured with so much crap (people where telling me to look at my K/D ratio! they still do not understand that this game is not about KD!! when I was gorging and lerking the whole game, how can I possibly have a high KD?), that I just left the server and not gonna go back to it.
People say - dont play pubs, but with our high pings it is not possible to play on any european server. I only have to choose from Korea and Singapore (where do all JP servers go, they were so friendly).
I might just wait for couple more months and see if anything changes. For now I am back to BF3 for couple of hours a week.
Nah.
But I'm not as good as other people here. Let the people who have spent more time playing this game tell you about how they're bored.
I have been playing BF3 again also, despite how much of a ripoff it is (compared to the $25 for NS2). This is mainly due to my friend having technical issues and being unable to play NS2.
My 2c.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
I would actually say the aus scene is bigger than the us scene lol.
We have 12 teams that all idle the same mumble and scrim against each other constantly. Every night we are turning down scrims it's that active..
17 teams all up
The game still needs new maps though. Let's face it, refinary is terrible so we basically haven't had a new map since tram (elevator transfer) was redesigned in beta.

Yeah lol, i guess 5 hours a day for 4 months straight would burn me out. Didn't happen with NS1 though with all the maps available.
Would probably help if more servers started running community maps like triad etc.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
Scarely enough I would say 1000+ of that was pre-release, since release I cant really stand playing the game, and its not really the pub scene or the new players, more just the realization that what the game is now most likely will not radically change, and wont be a game I really get into.
I can maybe pick up the tools too, i used to Hammer/Worldcraft for CS and NS1 a bit. Idk how much time i'd be able to dedicate tho cause i'm getting back to work soon.
Hang in there bud /o/
But yes, the lack of combat servers is sadly dissapointing. We have 1 for australia and the rest are 250+ ping.
Maybe you could bring up with noGG/AusNS2 the point of making one of the servers combat? I think it'd actually use significantly less resources without all the buildings.
At least start one up and test the CPU usage on your pc? I can help.
Endar, maybe not combat because it always drops empty, but classic! Put up a classic server! also a 24/7 48p server, instead of one-offs. :D
Back to HoN.
there is one, rothgars or something.
