In regards to the Steam Charts, do I need to point out that there is a huge autumn sale going on? I've just checked the chart and there are 2k concurrent online, that's still pretty good for a small indie game like this during a sale season. Not to mention that during the week of release, a lot of schools/unis/colleges across the UK in particular were in a term break.

Don't tell me how to play based on tournaments.
If you wink one more time I will vomit.
Marines are overpowered, if you knew HOW TO PLAY like you claim you might, you might know this. I am a counter-strike player, and if I get on marines with my friend we never, ever lose. Competitive play? Was the alien team full of better players? Are these things you don't consider when you open your winkyface mouth? Give me acid rocket on fade, it takes a lot of adrenaline and you can totally dodge it!
Saying things like that don't make it okay. You telling me I should avoid fighting in melee (THE ONLY WAY ALIENS CAN FIGHT NOW) until the grenades have exploded basically gives me a 3 second window to fight? In which I can do what? A fade can't even kill 1 jet packer in 3 seconds. Don't you DARE say 5 seconds, we all know the launcher is half reloaded by the time all of the grenades have exploded.
Go back to watching your streams and I'll go back to playing my game. And don't post in my threads again.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Lol this is my new favorite post.....
People reference tournaments for 2 reasons, 1st they are public so everyone can see them thus they provide a reasonable starting point for discussion. 2nd competitive players typically utilize the most powerful techniques (OP) so in a discussion discussing OP things like GL competitive play is a good way to see.
Now looking past your ignorance, he's right... People shoot GL away from themselfs and they usually shoot 4 at a time. This means as soon as you hear them stop firing that they are reloading which means they are defenseless this is when you attack if he does manage to reload before you finish him off he is forced to GL his feet and blow himself up.
Now as far as rines being OP in general, your flat wrong there is a reason they nerves aliens (60% win in pub). Come play on server with regulars ie not a random UWE where you and your friend are enough of a stack to slant the game.

That's a good point, I agree that it is possible to see different outcomes in more regularly played servers.
However Max my problem is with these regular players and these regular server, my problem is that I'm seeing this game degrade into what it use to be, a couple servers that are always full of the same people and a player base < 100. It's on the horizon if more people don't open their eyes and make changes that will make the game more FUN for the masses and more welcoming to the newer players.
Every game with huge success has always had one thing going for it, easy to play but very hard to master. This game, in the direction you "competitive"/"regulars" are taking it is making the game Hard to play and Annoying to master.
No one wants to play that. No one wants to play a game where they get spawn killed by grenades/flame throwers and shotguns before they can even move an inch after hatching. No one wants to walk down a hallway and get instantly one-hit by a grenade without warning and not one single person wants to lose a 50 res life-form to ONE SINGLE MARINE with a level three shotgun or GL.
Now you might like playing with the same people over and over again, and you might not see a problem with a tiny player base... but I just wished for once to see a game I loved take a turn for the better and become more successful. I guess I'll have to wait.
I think it would be nice if the GL was tweaked a bit, I certainly know it gets old to get killed by a random grenade being rained down onto me from a jetpacking marine. And the fact that it can take out so many eggs when chucked around the hive.
When playing a marine I don't feel like the area of effect seems oddly large, if it was shrunk I think it would make it sort of lame. The fuse time is fine imo, you can avoid grenades if you see them land.
Maybe changing the splash damage, for instance if the grenade it detonated because it hits something, the the surrounding damage is less. It gets old dieing because someone a bit slow ate the grenade near me or I got myself too near an onos (hard to avoid this in hallways, they trample you) as they are being naded.
I'd probably even say make the fuse time faster but make the damage less. GLs can be a bit hard to use correctly and it's partly from the nade taking a bit to explode. I'm sure I would regret that changed even with reduced damage but it's a thought.
Maybe cause guns like grenade launchers to make jetpacking harder, like they can't go up as high or it takes more fuel. This seems good for when marines attack the hive and easily wipe out eggs and upgrades even with skulks jumping at them. But still it would be a problem because I have noticed a marine with a GL's only hope for killing aliens is jetpacking backwards a bit every time an alien tries to get on them.
I suppose the problem with grenade launchers is that in a lot of situations they don't seem that fantastic but when used right they can be amazingly devastating. If they changed them to effect lifeforms less than buildings I think that would be nice. That way if a skulk spawns in a random spot that a GLer is nading it has a chance to survive, at least with some health.
<!--QuoteBegin-Calin+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Calin)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Obviously your mind doesn't work properly if you think aliens are easy to play.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> That you have trouble playing Alien doesn't mean Aliens are underpowered, I find them easy to play and I ( and UWE ) have both seen the inbalance in favor of the aliens. Statiscally, they did win the most rounds on ALL servers ( not just the servers with regular players ). Not knowing how to counter grenade-launchers or utilizing the fade's potential is not a flaw in the game desing, that's your own flaw. Know when to strike, know when to retreat.. that's KEY in saving your precious 50-res lifeform. If you get owned by a single marine with a lvl3 shotgun as a fade, you'r either very unlucky or very bad.
The game is not annoying to master if you know what you'r doing. Getting spawnraped because marines have started an assault on your base is unlucky but not unreasonable, why would it be? And again, jetpacking grenadelaunchers have a few major problem.. they can't shoot fast, they can't reload fast, they only have 4 shells and only have a side-arm pistol to inflict direct quick damage AND once their jetpack has run out of fuel, they can't do crap but switching to their pistols. And you'r saying that is hard to counter? please..
P.S. CS1.6 was vastly different from 1.4 and even 1.5. That's why we don't call them merely patch versions but different games. That's why it matters what version you'r referring to.
